The latest NCIS spinoff, NCIS: Tony & Ziva, has just premiered on Paramount+, and season 2 is very much possible. According to the series star Cote de Pablo, there’s a strong chance that the cast is ready.
In a recent interview with TV Insider, de Pablo shared her optimism about returning for another season alongside co-star Michael Weatherly. She praised the creative team and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to revisit their beloved characters.
I think we’d be lucky to play these characters for — look, I’ll say this: Season 1 was like a dream. It was so much fun to go back and revisit these characters. Where this goes, we know not. All we know is that we had to do this. Michael and I felt we owed it to the fans. And so we’re really happy about this just being able to happen. We manifested it. It came together beautifully. We had [showrunner] John McNamara leading this. He came up with a world that is beautiful. I mean, visually. You saw how beautiful the backdrop of Europe is and how it almost is like a character in itself, like how that backdrop is its own sort of romantic character that allows the story to so beautifully be played out. We’re just grateful that we got a chance to do it, and the rest is the rest. If we got a chance to do it again, we’d be thrilled.
Tony & Ziva reunite fan-favorite characters Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo for the first time since Season 17 of the flagship series. The spinoff launched on September 4, with three episodes, and will roll out new episodes weekly until October 23. Set against the backdrop of Europe, the story follows the iconic duo as they go on the run to protect their daughter while uncovering the cyber crimes.
Showrunner John McNamara’s Thoughts on Season 2 Renewal

While the cast is clearly on board for more, showrunner John McNamara is taking a more measured approach. He’s focused on making Season 1 the best it can be before talking about renewal. In the same TV Insider interview, he said,
I try never to count my chickens before they’re hatched. I’m just focused on finishing this season and trying to make it as good as possible. And honestly, it’s going to be entirely up to the fans and the subscribers to Paramount+, and ultimately to Paramount and CBS. It’s their property and it’s their money.
McNamara has, however, acknowledged that the season contains story elements that could lead to future arcs. Name-drops of legacy characters like McGee and subtle nods to Gibbs suggest that the door is open for future crossover opportunities.
Out Take on NCIS: Tony and Ziva Season 2 Renewal

Several key things must align before CBS and Paramount+ make it official. First, the show must continue to perform well across the remaining episodes, which air through October 23. Consistent viewer engagement, particularly on Paramount+, will be key. Positive response on social media and strong streaming numbers could be the final push executives need.
As of now, season 1 has proven that there’s still deep audience interest in Tony and Ziva’s story. Their complex relationship and new family dynamics offer plenty of material for future episodes. With the stars publicly eager to return and fans responding well, NCIS: Tony & Ziva could be a valuable extension of the NCIS franchise.
If the show maintains its current positive run, a renewal could be announced shortly after the season finale.
