Legendary wrestler Sting dedicated 40 years of his life to professional wrestling. The prolific performer inside the ring featured in his retirement match at AEW Revolution 2024. However, it looks like the next generation of wrestlers in his family is all set to continue his legacy as Sting’s youngest son, Steve Borden, made his professional wrestling debut during an art exhibit 52W Hardway organized by AEW star, Darby Allin.

Borden teamed up with JD Drake to face Darby Allin and Killer Kross, who is popularly known to the WWE fans as Karrion Kross. While this was a major step for the youngster, he suffered a crushing defeat in this match after receiving a Coffin drop from Allin, which turned out to be too much for Borden.
Darby Allin Revealed Steve Borden Has Been Training With Him
Steve Borden has been working hard to follow in the footsteps of his father for some time now. Apart from being the patron of Borden’s professional wrestling debut, Darby Allin was also a close associate of Sting towards the end of his career.
Allin was Sting’s last tag team partner as they defended the AEW World Tag Team Championships against the Young Bucks at AEW Revolution 2024.
After Sting’s retirement, Darby Allin sat down with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful and revealed that Steve Borden has started training to be a wrestler, and he is staying at his house. Allin further stated that participating in his father’s retirement match had seemingly given him the push to pursue professional wrestling.
Borden is increasingly becoming a sensation in the world of professional wrestling. He has impressed not just fans but even those experienced campaigners who shared the locker room with his father at some point. One such name is that of Adam Copeland, who was evidently impressed with what he saw from Borden.
Adam Copeland, Aka Edge, Spoke Highly of Sting’s Son in the Past
Without a doubt, Adam Copeland, aka Edge, is one of the greatest names in the world of professional wrestling. For a youngster like Borden, getting an endorsement from someone like him is a huge deal. But Borden’s relationship with Edge is much more than that. The former World Heavyweight Champion is much more than that to Sting’s son. He has also mentored him, explaining to him the details of professional wrestling and watching his progress closely.
Edge sat down with Steven Muehlhausen of Sports Illustrated after a photo was uploaded by Dax Hardwood on his X account, where he and Darby Allin could be seen with Sting’s son outside the squared circle after a training session. When asked about what he thinks of Borden, Edge shared:
It’s a great gig. So I think he felt that also in terms of his physicality. I mean, he’s 6-3. He’s about 230 pounds. He’s probably sitting about eight percent body fat. He looks the part. He’s got a good head on his shoulders, very similar to his dad in how he conducts himself, which is a great thing.
But once he’s in the business, there’s going to be a big spotlight on him, and with that comes extra pressures. Your Sting’s son and trying to break out of that. But, he’s smart. He’s smart, and I think if he wants to do it, he absolutely could do it.
These remarks from Edge consolidate the fact that the talent is there, as far as Sting’s son is concerned. All that he needs at this point is the right guidance and mentorship to further hone his skills. With Allin and Edge on his side, it looks like a future superstar, either in AEW or WWE, is definitely in the making.
