Lee Pace has been cast as the main villain in Invincible season 4 and will voice the character of Thragg, a Viltrumite (via Variety). Pace played the Elvenking Thranduil in The Hobbit trilogy, and perfectly embodied the eccentric and mystical persona of an elf royalty.
He’s also appeared as Ronan the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and Captain Marvel (2019), which means Pace has prior experience in bringing antagonists to life. At the New York Comic Con, Lee Pace was revealed to be Thragg, the most sought-after villain of Robert Kirkman’s comic books (via Entertainment Weekly). On the panel, Kirkman himself spoke about how he had set his sights on Pace to play Thragg. Impressively, he had Pace on his mind even before the show existed.
Kirkman expressed his admiration for the actor’s role in some projects, but was also worried that after his part in Foundation, it would be difficult to cast him as Thragg because the characters would be too similar. Pace seemed excited for us to see him voicing the villain, and said:
Let me just start with that he looks cool as hell! The character looks so badass. As I was learning more about the story we were setting up, what I saw was a character with a lot of depth and a lot of different extremes. He goes through a lot.
Though he was excited, Pace had to cut his words short so he wouldn’t reveal too much. And despite playing so many diverse roles, Pace remarked that he never had the opportunity to voice such a character before, which makes you wonder, how exactly they’ve portrayed Thragg in Invincible.

Thragg is a leader of the Viltrumites and one of the strongest of them all. In season 3, since Conquest, one of Thragg’s warriors fails after a fight, the main boss himself is going to show up in the upcoming installment.
