South Park is currently the boldest animated series on TV, and even late Charlie Kirk approved of it despite the dig the show took at him. When the first teaser of the August 6 episode, titled Got a Nut, was released in July, Kirk told Fox News Digital:
Honestly, my first reaction was that I kinda laughed. It’s kinda funny, and it kinda goes to show the cultural impact and the resonance that our movement has been able to achieve. I look at this as a badge of honor.
He continued:
We as conservatives need to be able to take a joke. We shouldn’t take ourselves so seriously. That’s something that the left has always done, to great detriment to themselves and the movement. Look, they’re professional comedians. They’re probably going to roast me, and I think that’s fine. That’s what it’s all about, being in public life and making a difference.
Kirk seemed to have an open mindset about jokes being made at his expense, despite being a conservative. However, the same can probably not be said about President Donald Trump, who was allegedly involved in Jimmy Kimmel’s firing.
The Charlie Kirk Show Producer Claimed the Late Activist Would Have Wanted the Episode Back Up
Charlie Kirk hosted the eponymous radio talk show for years. Soon after his passing, Andrew Kolvet, Kirk’s close friend and executive producer of The Charlie Kirk Show, took to X to state that the activist would have loved for the South Park episode satirizing him to keep airing.
Hey @paramountplus, as someone who can speak with some authority on this, Charlie loved that he was featured in South Park. He told me many times. He would want the episode back up.
After Kirk’s shocking assassination on September 10, Comedy Central decided to pull the episode from its linear rotation in a show of respect to the Turning Point USA co-founder. The episode was available for streaming on Paramount+.
At the time of his interview with Fox News Digital in July, Kirk also changed the profile picture for his talk show on both Instagram and TikTok to a screengrab of Cartman impersonating him. That profile picture stayed for a few days even after his death before it was changed to a picture of him (via Variety).
What Happened in the South Park Episode Featuring Charlie Kirk?
In South Park Season 27 Episode 2, Got a Nut, budgetary cuts to the elementary school lead to Mr. Mackey being laid off from his long-time role as school counselor. In search of steady income, he accepts a job with ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), participating in raids even in absurd places like a Dora the Explorer stage show and, as the show portrays it, heaven itself.
His new boss is none other than Kristi Noem, who is depicted as a ruthless, plastic surgery-obsessed overseer who even shoots innocent dogs and frequently reattaches her face after it “slips off.”
Meanwhile, Clyde Donovan initiates a right-wing podcast spouting s*xist, antisemitic, and provocative opinions, which angers Cartman, who believes Clyde has stolen “his shtick”. Cartman, impersonating Kirk, forcefully takes over Clyde’s podcast to engage in “masterdebating” with callers.
Ultimately, Clyde wins a Charlie Kirk Award for Young Masterdebaters, triggering Cartman’s rage again. Mr. Mackey’s journey leads him to a bizarre Mar-a-Lago retreat, where he’s offered a promotion by Donald Trump. But witnessing the debauchery and encountering Satan in Trump’s bed shakes him.
Disillusioned, Mackey rejects the path and, with Clyde and Dora, attempts to escape. The episode ends explosively, with Noem’s face detachments, chaotic chases, and even the violent death of Krypto the Super Dog as they flee.
