Grammy-winning artist Ed Sheeran’s new project with Netflix, ONE SHOT with Ed Sheeran, is an experimental music special where Sheeran will take viewers on a real-time journey through the streets of New York City.
It will be directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Philip Barantini, known for his work on Netflix’s hit series Adolescence. Sheeran announced the news in an Instagram post on Monday night (Oct. 6) with Netflix.

In ONE SHOT, Sheeran will perform his greatest hits in impromptu sessions on sidewalks, subway cars, and other iconic locations. According to the description, the special follows “the Grammy winner on an unforgettable journey through the streets of New York City as he delights pedestrians with impromptu performances of his greatest hits.”
The show is set to premiere on Netflix on November 21, 2025 (via Tudum).
Ed Sheeran’s ONE SHOT Will Follow Philip Barantini’s Signature One Continuous Take
Barantini’s use of the one-take technique has earned him critical acclaim in his previous work, particularly in Adolescence and the 2021 movie Boiling Point. Each Episode was shot in a single, continuous sequence. ONE SHOT will adopt the same approach, following Sheeran as he spends an afternoon performing on the bustling streets of New York City.
News of ONE SHOT with Ed Sheeran follows the success of Barantini’s Adolescence at the Emmys. The critically acclaimed show won eight awards from 13 nominations, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
Starring Owen Cooper, the show follows a 13-year-old boy’s involvement in the murder of his classmate. It currently sits at No. 2 on Netflix’s Most Popular TV List, with 142.6 M views (via Deadline).
The series earned Barantini dual Emmys for his roles as both director and executive producer. Just as Adolescence captured its narrative in a single shot, the new project will showcase Sheeran’s music in an unfiltered and spontaneous manner.
What’s Next For Ed Sheeran and Philip Barantini?
Sapphire hit-maker, fresh off the release of his eighth studio album Play in September, is gearing up for his Loop Tour. It’s his sixth concert tour, kicking off on December 1 in Paris. He’ll travel across Europe, the UK, Ireland, and eventually perform in Australia and New Zealand in early 2026 (via Billboard).
Meanwhile, Barantini is gearing up for the release of Enola Holmes 3, another high-profile project for Netflix, starring Millie Bobby Brown. As of now, there’s no release date yet for set for season 3.
