It will allow you to do relatively more stagger damage and interrupt your enemy’s attack sequences. You might have seen that several weapons in this game are effective against a specific weapon type when they are in alignment.
Similarly, several armors, like the Armor of the Undying, offer you benefits like health restoration, increased Perfect Parry window, etc, if you have your weapon aligned. That being said, it becomes extremely important to learn how to get a weapon aligned in Ghost of Yotei.
How to Weapon Align in Ghost of Yotei
As mentioned earlier, having a weapon aligned means your equipped weapon will be relatively more effective than it usually is. To get this advantage, meaning, to get your weapon aligned, you will have to use it against an enemy who is naturally weaker to your weapon.
For example, if you are using a Katana against an enemy who’s wielding a sword, your Katana will be aligned. This will result in dealing more stagger damage and disrupting attack sequences upon doing heavy attacks. Using a different weapon, such as a Kusarigama against a sword, will have your Kusarigama misaligned.
A general thing to remember is that it’s not a negative thing to use a misaligned weapon. You can use the weapon you love to use in Ghost of Yotei, as its misalignment does not reduce its overall damage. In fact, the weapon will still do the regular damage. However, it’s just that weapon alignment gives it an upper edge, making it useful in battles fought on Hard or Lethal difficulty settings.
