Brock Lesnar has been a prolific performer inside the ring. He has stormed the world of professional wrestling numerous times, but probably the most impact he made was during his first run in the WWE, which ended in 2004 after WrestleMania XX. While there were many reasons behind his WWE exit, one of the major ones was his desire to pursue a career in the NFL.
However, not everyone was comfortable with the fact that Lesnar abruptly ended his professional wrestling career right around the time the company was poised to make him the face of the organization. The most vocal critic of this decision was Triple H, who, during a conversation that appears to be from around the time when Lesnar quit WWE, had some interesting thoughts on the whole situation. The Game, shared:
It’s the dumbest move in the world. I can’t blame him. If he hates to travel that much, and he didn’t enjoy then I guess he should get out.
Additionally, Triple H stated during the conversation that while the NFL was a major factor in Brock Lesnar’s decision to quit WWE, he hated being on the road, which also played an important role in his decision to leave the company so early on in his career.
Reasons Behind Brock Lesnar’s Decision to Quit WWE Back in the Day
Travel was one of the primary reasons Brock Lesnar decided to leave WWE. He was so tired of moving out here and there that, as reported by The Sportster, he used a substantial amount of money to buy a private jet worth $400,000.
Later, Bruce Pitchard reported that this did not go well with his fellow superstars in the locker room, who perceived it to be a habit of overspending from a young Lesnar. Something which has been taken seriously by the Ruthless Agression Era superstars.
Another prominent reason behind his decision to quit the company was that, unlike others in professional wrestling at the time, Brock Lesnar was in it for the money. Lesnar was not passionate about wrestling then, so pursuing a career in the NFL made much more sense to him.
Additionally, Lesnar played High School Football at Webster High School in South Dakota, but could never pursue a career in college football. His limits were unexplored, pushing him to pursue the NFL as he matured. The timing of his departure clashed with the college football season and the culmination of the turn of events at WWE. Therefore, Lesnar felt that leaving WWE was the right decision in his career.
Professional wrestling is the world of uncertainty and unexploited opportunities. While Brock Lesnar decided to try something else when he was emerging as a dominant force in the WWE, many in the professional wrestling community believe that had Lesnar not taken that hiatus, he would have sealed his position as a living legend in the company by now.
Brock Lesnar Would’ve Been Invincible by Now Had He Stayed in the WWE
The most critical impact Brock Lesnar would have created had he stayed in the company back in 2004 was building a legacy of his own, much along the lines of The Undertaker. The ‘Beast Incarnate’ would have had a streak of his own in one of the prominent real events of the company.
If Lesnar had maintained his personality and physique as he has until this moment, his legacy would have been enshrined as unparalleled in professional wrestling history by now.
The next significant impact Lesnar would have created is the sheer number of titles he would have won by this point. Lesnar was a force to be reckoned with inside the ring and had the trust of the authority, both during the Vince McMahon and Triple H era.
While Lesnar is indeed an intimidating personality in the WWE, there is still no doubt that he has been the benchmark of strength and resilience inside the squared circle, even with that 8-year-long hiatus from the WWE. Will he manage to secure another title following his return at Wrestlepalooza 2025? Only time will tell.
