TV personality and radio host Stephen A. Smith is moving into the streaming network, and Howard Stern‘s job at SiriusXM might be in some serious trouble.
During Smith’s appearance on the longtime fan favorite talk show, The Howard Stern Show, he revealed that he has signed a multiyear agreement with the company that will “showcase his no-holds-barred perspectives on sports, current events and more to listeners across North America.“
As per sources who confided in Radar Online, the 57-year-old is planning to “topple” over Stern’s empire. The insider said, “They share a mutual respect, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that Stephen A. is looking to take over SiriusXM, which Howard is expected to leave after 19 years.”
Stern’s deal with SiriusXM, which brings him $100 million a year, will come to an end later this year, and he apparently has “no idea” about what Smith is plotting.
The insider added, “Stephen A. sees himself as a media monolith and fully intends to become top dog when Howard’s contract expires…Stephen A. wants the kind of platform Howard built.” Stern better watch out!
According to The Sun‘s report, Smith has signed a 3-year contract with the company, and that deal just might be worth $36 million.
Is SiriusXM Stephen A. Smith’s Stepping Stone to Presidency?
Radar Online’s sources claim that Smith is planning to use the media to build himself a smooth road to the Oval Office. The host of First Take told ABC News that he has “no choice” but to run for the Presidency in 2028. He said,
I’ve had elected officials, and I’m not going to give their names, elected officials coming up to me. I’ve had folks who are pundits come up to me. I’ve had folks that got a lot of money, billionaires and others that have talked to me about exploratory committees and things of that nature. I’m not a politician. I’ve never had a desire to be a politician.
As per the sources, Smith is “convinced he’s destined for the Oval Office and thinks his media empire is the perfect platform.” All he needs to day is have Stern “step aside.“
Apparently, Smith is a “ruthless magalomaniac, and the feeling is that Howard won’t know what hit him.” Is Stern’s job in trouble? We might have all the answers we need by the end of 2025. Meanwhile, check out Stern’s net worth here.
Howard Stern Has Thought About Retirement, but He Knows He Can’t Leave
Rumors have been circulating, claiming that Howard Stern might be getting fired from SiriusXM. However, as per The Hollywood Reporter, the host is currently in the middle of negotiations for a new contract, no matter what the speculations may be.
He said, “SiriusXM and my team have been talking about how we go forward in the future, they’ve approached me. They’ve sat down with me like they normally do and they’re fantastic…We’ve been talking.”
Stern also added that he is “very happy at Sirius” and doesn’t feel threatened by the company bringing in new podcasters, Alex Cooper and Andy Cohen. He said, “None of this is going on. None of it is true. Zero truth.“
However, the 71-year-old admitted that he had been thinking about retiring, but he can’t, all thanks to the rumors surrounding him. He said, “What pisses me off is now I can’t leave. I’ve been thinking about retiring, now I can’t.”
Well, we sure hope Stern has a few more good years ahead at SiriusXM, even if reports claim Smith is coming for his throne. Do you think he’ll be able to? Let us know in the comments section below!
