The sequel to Netflix’s new movie, The Woman in Cabin 10, starring Keira Knightley, isn’t confirmed yet, but the possibility remains. The movie is an adaptation of Ruth Ware’s 2016 thriller. While there is a sequel to the book, The Woman in Suite 11, published in July 2025, the author confirms there is no adaptation as of yet.
Talking about the movie, ahead of the premiere, she told People that a sequel “would be amazing, obviously.” Ware told,
I tend to just sort of get told about stuff when it’s greenlit and people do their stuff. So no, you probably know as much as I do.
The movie, released on Netflix on October 10, 2025, stars Knightley as journalist Lo Blacklock. It follows her search for an answer to a murder mystery aboard a luxury yacht.
How Does The Woman in Cabin 10 Movie End?
[Spoiler]
In the movie, The Woman in Cabin 10, Lo Blacklock (Keira Knightley) is invited to a luxury yacht by wealthy philanthropist Anne Bullmer (Lisa Loven Kongsli). She is dying and announced that she is giving all her money to charity. Shortly after departure, Lo hears a woman scream from the next cabin and later sees a body floating in the water.
However, no one knows this mysterious woman, and no one believes Lo. Furthermore, the yacht’s passengers think she’s either hallucinating or crazy.
As the story progresses, Lo discovers that the woman she saw was not Anne but an actress named Carrie, hired by Anne’s husband, Richard (Guy Pearce). He hired her to impersonate Anne to secure the will under his name. The climax follows Lo’s escape from the yacht. She confronts Richard and exposes his plans in front of an audience.
After an intense confrontation, Richard holds Carrie hostage. But his assistant ultimately shoots him, and Lo hits the final blow that causes him to collapse. The movie ends with Lo writing an exposé about her experience. She receives a video message from Carrie, who is now safe and living with her daughter. Lo smiles, signaling a closure before the credits roll.
The Woman in Cabin 10 Author on Book Follow-Up
Author Ruth Ware started working on the follow-up, The Woman in Suite 11, during the production of the movie. In her interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she opened up about revisiting Lo’s character in her new book almost 10 years later.
Despite not expecting to write a sequel, Ware said readers’ persistent questions about Lo’s fate inspired her to pick up where the first book left off. She said,
I spent a year with her. I was really curious to find out who she would have become in the intervening decade, and how she would coped with the events of what happened in the Aurora and process them, and what it would have done to her as a person.
In Suite 11, Lo is now a mother, but she’s still haunted by the trauma of the yacht incident. When she attends the press opening of a luxury Swiss hotel, Lo is once again thrust into danger after a mysterious woman claims to be in life-or-death jeopardy.
Ware explained that Lo’s character has remained largely unchanged over the years. She added that while Lo has evolved, her innate need to help others, even when she shouldn’t, remains at the core of her character.
While there is currently no news about a sequel, its creation ultimately depends on audience reception and reviews. If Netflix decides to greenlight a sequel, we can expect another mysterious adventure. Until then, viewers can explore the sequel to the book. Key details of the movie:
