The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 ended with Belly and Conrad reconciling after a lot of twists and turns. Meanwhile, Jeremiah was still grappling with the heartbreak of his called-off wedding to Belly. In Episode 11, while Jeremiah and Belly talked on the phone for a bit, it seemed as if the former still hadn’t forgiven the girl. So, will Jeremiah finally do it in The Summer I Turned Pretty: The Movie?
At the end of the third book, We’ll Always Have Summer, Jeremiah not only attended Belly and Conrad’s wedding, but also had a short and sweet interaction with Belly. This suggested that he had forgiven both Conrad and Belly. So, fans can hope for the same to happen in The Summer I Turned Pretty: The Movie.
Why Jeremiah’s Forgiveness Is Important for Belly’s Journey?
Jeremiah and Belly had quite the journey in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3. The season opened with Belly and Jeremiah dating, breaking up briefly after Belly found out that Jeremiah had cheated, planning their wedding, and ultimately calling it off once they realized that Belly and Conrad still had feelings for each other.
The movie was announced hours after the final episode was released. Jeremiah already told Conrad that he was okay with the older Fisher brother pursuing Conrad, and the two even hugged it out. However, Jeremiah had not met Belly in person yet, so he might still be harboring some of his resentment towards her.
For Belly, Jeremiah’s forgiveness is crucial because it allows her to move forward without carrying the burden of unresolved tension. Much of her growth hinges on learning to make choices that feel true to her, rather than constantly trying to please others. Without Jeremiah’s acceptance, she risks being stuck in the shadow of regret, unsure if she deserves to be happy with Conrad.
Before Belly dated either of the Fisher brothers, she was friends with them. They were so close that they were almost family. Jeremiah eventually forgiving Belly carries a lot of weight because it is not only about letting Belly off the hook for past heartbreak but also about healing his own wounds.
Forgiving Belly also shows Jeremiah’s maturity. Instead of clinging to resentment, he acknowledges the depth of their shared history and lets go of any remaining bitterness. His forgiveness is a form of closure, signaling that their bond, as friends and family, can survive heartbreak.
Everything We Know About The Summer I Turned Pretty: The Movie
On September 17, 2025, Prime Video released a press release stating that fans of the beloved drama will get a chance to return to Cousins in a feature film installment of The Summer I Turned Pretty. Author of the original books and show creator, Jenny Han, said:
“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due. I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans.”
While the release date and plot details are still under wraps, it is expected that the movie will show Conrad and Belly’s wedding, which happened in the epilogue of the third book. That said, the movie will not be all sunshine and rainbows, as Han told Entertainment Weekly:
“I can say that it’s sort of what happens next. It’s like, ‘What happens when you are dating your ex’s brother? And you have to see them and you have to be in their life still. What does that look like?’”
Han also said that she and co-showrunner Sarah Kucserka have “written something” for the movie, but it is still quite early for them to reveal anything.
