The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3: What Did Belly Say About Conrad to Her Paris Friends?

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 9 took fans on a wild ride as Belly’s (Lola Tung) backpack was stolen, sending her racing through the streets of Paris with only an AirTag to track it down. Even more jaw-dropping was her response to one of her new Parisian friends’ questions about Conrad (Chris Briney).

After Belly managed to retrieve her bag, the new Parisian friends she had made took her out for a drink. While chatting with them, Belly revealed how her past 36 hours had been. Gemma’s girlfriend, Max, asked:

“What’s the story with the brother, Isabel? You just left the brother at the airport after he blew up his whole life for you.”

Belly replied:

“Yeah, well, I mean, I didn’t ask him to do that.”

Belly’s response awed her new friends, and Celine even commented that she was a “bad a**”. Belly replies that she was just bad. Then, Celine, Gemma, Max, and Benito took turns to reveal the awful things they had done to explain to Belly that everyone did things like this in their twenties.

At the end of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 8, as Taylor Swift’s Cardigan played in the background, Belly looked to her side at the airport to see Conrad sitting there. Like a moth to the flame, she gravitated towards him for a moment before deciding to get on her plane to Paris.

Episode 9 opened with Adam (Tom Everett Scott) calling Conrad to ask if he could keep an eye on Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) while he took care of things at the country club where Jeremiah and Belly were supposed to get married. Conrad, who was all set to fly to San Francisco, looked at the entry gate as if he could sense that Belly was just there.

Conrad went back home to help Jeremiah, but Steven (Sean Kaufman) and Taylor (Rain Spencer) advised him to steer clear of him for the time being. Conrad asked Taylor if Belly was okay, and Taylor said she did not know because they had not talked. She also promised Conrad that she would let him know if she found out about Belly.

Later, Conrad was planning to visit Jeremiah, only to be stopped by Steven again. Conrad finally met Jeremiah toward the end of the episode when the latter finally came to the house. Jeremiah told Conrad that Belly was in Paris and planned to stay there. Conrad was shocked to hear this, and possibly even hurt that she let Jeremiah know but not him.

Why Was Jeremiah Happy About Conrad Not Knowing?

After the wedding was called off, Jeremiah spent the rest of the day drinking, while Steven and the others tried to console him. Later that night, Steven and Taylor helped Jeremiah get to the hotel where everyone was staying for the wedding. Jeremiah also spent the next day moping around and wondering why Belly had not visited him or at least called.

When Belly called that evening, Jeremiah tried to rekindle their relationship. However, Belly turned him down, which made him angry. So, he told her not to call him again. Then, he went to the house and told Conrad about Belly being in Paris. When he realized that Conrad was unaware of Belly’s whereabouts, he smugly said:

“God, I love that I am the one who gets to tell you this.”

Getting to rub his knowledge of Belly’s whereabouts in Conrad’s face made Jeremiah happy because, in his words:

“She didn’t choose me, but she didn’t pick you either.”

If Jeremiah was sad that Belly did not want to be with him, he reveled in the fact that she did not choose to be with Conrad either. This suggests that if Belly had stayed to be with Conrad, it would have made Jeremiah feel worse and perhaps even angrier toward Conrad than he already was.

As for Conrad, he was visibly anguished by Jeremiah’s revelation and decided to return to San Francisco since Jeremiah made it clear that he did not need him around. Conrad loaded his luggage in the boot of the cab while Taylor Swift’s How Did It End played in the background.
