The Summer Hikaru Died Episode 9 Recap

The Summer Hikaru Died episode 9 began with a flashback of the two protagonists as Hikaru paid respects to those of the Indo family who had passed away. The scene then shifts to the present, in which Kurebayashi explains to Yoshiki that the spirit that attacked them was an accumulation of impurities. She also explained that Hikaru and Yoshiki attract these impurities.
Meanwhile, Hikaru wakes up and helps himself to Shiitake Manju made by Kurebayashi. She then delves into her own past. She herself housed an impurity, which was her husband. Not much is told about how her husband turned into such a state, but she could not let herself detach from him. This led to her son’s injury. Although Hikaru isn’t an impurity but rather an enigma. Hikaru and Yoshiki confess that they cannot sit back and watch people die.
On the other hand, Tanaka finds out everything that had happened at the diner. Kurebayashi offers to help the two, but takes Hikaru aside and tells him not to get Yoshiki any more involved. Yoshiki then goes to mourn the real Hikaru and reminisces about him. The new Hikaru drops by and asks Yoshiki if he liked the real Hikaru. Yoshiki does not deny or accept that he liked Hikaru, but also says that he doesn’t feel anything when he looks at the new Hikaru.
The two then go over what they currently know about Nonuki-sama, Hichi-san, and Hikaru. They decide to visit old man Takeda since he is their only lead. When they meet him, Takeda asks them to bring Kurebayashi to him since he has been searching for a ‘real medium’. He also believes he is next on the chopping block. He suddenly blabbers that this is the fault of the Indous and their blasphemous act.

Apparently, the Indous have killed a lot of people, which is why the men in the family have to climb the mountain to apologize. He gets angry at Hikaru for not knowing about the family’s sins and tells him to take a look at his family’s temple. Suddenly, Tanaka transforms into a vengeful spirit of some sort, but Tanaka steps in before anything could happen to Hikaru and Yoshiki. In the finale, he takes a sword and slashes right through Hikaru’s neck, separating his head from his body while claiming that it was nice that their paths crossed.
The Summer Hikaru Died Episode 10 Plot Predictions

The Summer Hikaru Died episode 10 will show what has actually happened to Hikaru. Since the anime is far from over, it is probably not the time for Hikaru to die. At the same time, he is significantly weaker than before, and healing such a massive wound might be tough. The episode might also show what Tanaka actually wanted to know from Hikaru. Most probably, he wanted to test if Hikaru was an impurity or not.
The next episode might also show Tanaka divulging some important info to Yoshiki about the entire mystery of the mountains. Did you like episode 9 of The Summer Hikaru Died? What do you think might happen next? Let us know in the comments below.
