The Fantastic Four New Deleted Scene Proves The Movie Needs a Zack Snyder Treatment

Marvel fans got a peek at two deleted scenes from The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and they’re sparking up a conversation about what the movie could have been like if they kept those parts. One clip shows Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm meeting Mole Man in his underground lair, where the two briefly exchange a few comments before agreeing to work on the crisis at hand: bursting sewer pipes (via @marvel_updat3s, X).

The second deleted moment is far more intimate and focuses on Reed and Sue co-parenting their baby. Franklin won’t stop crying in Reed’s arms, but Sue instantly calms him and reassures Reed with her tender words. Reed kisses her goodnight, and she cradles Franklin, slowly turning invisible with the child.

These two moments could have added to the world-building and emotional nuance of the story. So, should Marvel create another version for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, like the DCEU did for Justice League?

Why The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Needs a Snyder Cut-like Version

When Joss Whedon’s Justice League fell flat, Zack Snyder had the chance to release his true vision in the form of a four-hour-long Snyder-cut. It truly became a huge moment for superhero cinema because fans realized just how much editing, pacing, and tonal shifts could change a movie.

Snyder also used different takes of the scenes and turned a silly-looking movie into something that felt dark, gritty, and worth watching. The Fantastic Four: First Steps should be considered for a similar treatment, especially after the movie’s average box office performance (as per the MCU’s standards).

Here’s an overview of The Fantastic Four: First Steps

Perhaps another director could step in, or they could let Matt Shakman assemble a longer and more unfiltered version of the team. Much like the Snyder-cut, it wouldn’t just be about fan service, but also restoring the movie’s thematic balance.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Deleted Scenes Highlight Its Lost Potential

The real sting of these movies isn’t just that they were deleted, but also what they reveal about the movie’s lost potential. The Sue and Mole Man scene added more nuance to Harvey Elder, and also gave the Invisible Woman another arc outside of her team, showing that she can handle the dirty work herself.

The Franklin part was even more crucial as we saw the world’s smartest man fail at calming a baby. This contrasted beautifully with the effortless bond between Sue and her baby, as she disappeared with him. It also conveyed how the couple was co-parenting their child, and reminded us that being a genius doesn’t mean that Pedro Pascal’s Reed will never face the challenges of fatherhood.

Cutting these scenes erased the heart of The Fantastic Four: First Steps storytelling. We aren’t asking for multiple clips released here and there separately, but a chance to see it all in its truest form, where the Fantastic Four aren’t just saving the world, but also living like a family.

So, should Marvel go full Shakman-cut? Or are these deleted scenes enough for you?

The Fantastic Four: First Step will release on digital platforms like Apple TV and Amazon on September 23, 2025 (USA).
