The Fall of Comick: Real Reason Manga Piracy’s Last Bastion Shut Down

On September 16, 2025, Comick, one of the biggest manga piracy sites in the world, was shut down. As usual, readers could not access the site; only a single dreadful message remained, which thanked its supporters while declaring that Comick has been brought to a close.

Comick was one of the only sites on which manga readers could find a plethora of manga, manhwa, and more, all under a single roof. Needless to say, countless users were left in shock.

Why Did the Manga Piracy Site, Comick, Shut Down?

At the moment, Comick only holds a singular announcement by its site operator. The message does not say anything about a cease and desist of any DMCA notices or threats from publishers. In fact, the reason behind taking down the site is unclear, but fans still think that it’s the impending threat of being sued that forced the site operator to shut down the shutter on one of the biggest manga pirating sites.

The message on the site read:

Important Notice
First of all, I’d like to thank you all for being part of the Comick community and for supporting this project over the years. After much thought, I’ve made the difficult decision to bring this site to a close.
Although the site is no longer online, I want to reassure you that your personal manga/comic lists remain safe. I am currently preparing a dedicated page where you’ll be able to access and export your lists. Once it’s ready, I’ll share the link here.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who visited, contributed, and shared in this journey with me. Running this platform has been an incredible experience, and I truly appreciate the time you’ve spent here.
Thank you again for your support and understanding.

Comick was a behemoth of a manga piracy site, and according to some estimates, it racked up millions of monthly visits every month. This staggering traffic shows how important it was to a plethora of manga readers. At the same time, Comick has now joined a long list of now-defunct piracy sites for manga and anime.

Piracy Giants Are Facing Death Sentences One by One

Comick shutting down isn’t an isolated incident. It is only the latest casualty in the relentless war that manga publishers and entertainment conglomerates have waged against piracy. MandaDex, another piracy titan, faced a huge DMCA takedown, which resulted in the partial or full deletion of thousands of series.

These notices are forcing piracy sites to purge their vast collection of unauthorized translations and scans. Although some iracy sites are defiantly open, no one knows how long these can actually stay put.

For avid manga readers, Comick’s fall means they have to scramble for other alternatives, and this list is dwindling rapidly. Legal platforms hold a limited number of manga but charge high prices for them. Paying money just to receive delayed translations, a select few manga, and other restrictions according to country and region are driving people towards piracy even more.

Here is a list of major manga or anime piracy sites that have been closed down so far:
