The Conjuring‘s ending was gruesome, bloody, and pure terror as April (the youngest of the Perron family) runs for her life through cracks in the house while Carolyn Perron, possessed by Bathsheba, attempts to kill her. However, many fans have always questioned why only Christine and April were the targets of Carolyn’s attacks.
Well, fortunately enough, we have got just the answer for you. According to the storyline of the film (which differed from the real events), Carolyn Perron was possessed by the spirit of Bathsheba. Bathsheba Sherman was a witch who was caught sacrificing her one-week-old baby by her husband.
Before hanging from a tree, Bathsheba proclaimed her love to Satan and cursed anyone who would take the land. Bathsheba possesses Carolyn Perron, being a mother herself, and the final act of the movie sees Bathsheba trying to fulfill her sacrifice to Satan by making a mother sacrifice her children.
The reason that Christine and April were specifically targeted for the attacks was that they were the youngest of the Perron children. With Bathsheba wanting to sacrifice the youngest of her
What The Conjuring Got Wrong About the Real-Life Haunting

Kudos to James Wan for making one of the best horror movies ever to exist. However, some choices were made for a cinematic effect that deviated from the real-life events of the Perron family.
For starters, there are no real-life accounts of Carolyn Perron ever causing harm to her children (via The Tiger News). Christine and April never became the target of attacks from their mother. This was done in the movie to heighten the tension by putting innocent lives at risk.
More so, it has been speculated that Bathsheba Sherman wasn’t a witch, but she was accused of witchcraft, and because she couldn’t prove her innocence, she decided to end her own life.
The final exorcism scene in the movie was also fictionalized since Ed & Lorraine Warren never did an exorcism on Carolyn Perron! Instead, it was a seance (in which they try to contact the dead) that went terribly wrong for the Perron family.
Following the failed seance in which Carolyn Perron was reported to speak a devilish language and thrown around the room, the Perrons asked Ed & Lorraine Warren to leave. So… what happened to the real Perron family?
What Happened to the Perron Family Who Lived in The Conjuring House?

Well, the seance failed. Carolyn Perron was hurt, and it was confirmed by Lorraine Warren that she was indeed possessed by an entity. However, when the Perrons told Ed & Lorraine Warren to leave the case alone, they left.
The hauntings continued until 1980, when the Perron family finally decided to move out of the house. According to reports, Carolyn Perron survived the possession for 10 years and continued to fight the hauntings every day.
