The Batsuit Is No Longer Fiction: Inventor’s Real-Life Batman Armor Doesn’t Just Stop Bullets, It Deflects Them

All Batman fans can start saving up for the one thing that is stopping us from being the Caped Crusader (apart from the billions, of course). The Batsuit is real, and a YouTuber has just built an insane, DIY version of it. Tyler Csatari, a YouTuber and inventor who is known for his lifestyle and science videos, has created a functional Batsuit that can deflect bullets.

The inventor used multiple materials to make sure that the suit was stab-proof as well as bulletproof, while also being wearable. Csatari also made sure the material worked for the mask, which he designed to perfection.

Durable Batsuit Combined Multiple Materials to Effectively Deflect Bullets

One of the most important elements of the Batsuit is functionality as well as its strength. While there are some fancy upgrades over the years, the primary reason for the suit is its protection from dangerous weapons like knives, bats (the hitting kind), and guns. Batman’s suit is effective against bullets, up to a certain level.

Tyler Csatari, the YouTuber who made his own Batsuit, reportedly used a combination of materials to make it strong enough to deflect bullets. He mentioned that he first started with several layers of carbon fibre (with the number hitting up to 200 layers), after which he found a new material called graphene, which gave him the desired strength to deflect bullets.

Csatari’s journey took him to the company that manufactures graphene, as it was not easily available in the market, and he tested the material on different types of guns. It seemed to work even against heavier guns like a shotgun. Csatari then mixed graphene with layers of carbon fibre and Kevlar, the bulletproof material used on vests for cops and the military.

MIT Engineers Confirm That an Accurate Batsuit Is Indeed Possible

While Tyler Csatari made a functioning Batsuit that can be made at home, the technology has gone further enough for the superhuman stuff that Batman actually does to be a reality. The engineers at MIT and the technology being developed at the university reportedly can make everything from fire-resistant suits to communication devices that are exactly like what Batsy uses.

Robert T-I. Shin, who is the principal staff member of the ISR and Tactical Division Systems department at MIT, revealed that the engineering team at the university can improve on Batman’s suit and make him even more menacing and powerful (via MIT).

We could make Batman a cape that changes color, or that acts like an invisibility cape by projecting what is behind him and matches to the scene like a chameleon. With our technologies, Batman will have an even more capable cape.

However, all is not perfect as Shin mentioned that with such functionality, the wearer would have to sacrifice speed and looking sleek.
