In a blast from the past, pop artist and musician Taylor Swift’s comments on The Rachel Ray Show, about former music and entertainment industry mogul P Diddy, have surfaced. While being asked who she would be interested in inviting as a prom night group, she said that Diddy would be fun to be with, the reason being:
Diddy’s always really been very nice to me. He would be fun to be in the prom group.
This statement has aged extremely poorly, as the things that the Hip-Hop artist has been accused of are almost unspeakable, including the exploitation of minors and teens, which Swift was during her first years in the industry. But at the moment, she’s also the point of outrage from her fans for the release of her new album, titled ‘The Life of a Showgirl’.
A Brief Glance at What P Diddy Has Been Sentenced for After His Trial
One of the most high-profile criminal cases coming out of the music industry in recent years was that of Sean Combs, a.k.a. P Diddy. With cases about violence, assault, and s*xual misconduct on several different levels, he was taken into custody, and multiple cases were filed against him (via Vulture).
But in a recent hearing in Manhattan about his case, after being found not guilty on the charges of racketeering and s*x trafficking, it was revealed that his severity of the punishment for conviction will be lessened. Found guilty on the charges of transportation to engage in prostitution and violation of the Mann Act, he will be serving 50 months behind bars.
While this trial had been concluded in July of this year, the Judge’s verdict and sentencing on this were recently delivered. But while Diddy may be going to prison soon, many feel like he’s being let off easy, since his crimes of racketeering would’ve gotten him a life sentence (via BBC).
How Taylor Swift’s New Album Has Sparked Outrage Amongst Her Loyal Fans
While on one hand, her past comments about Diddy might make many sympathetic about her time in the industry, the Swifties are on a whole different tangent in recent weeks. This all happened due to the release of her latest album, titled ‘The Life of a Showgirl.’
While it may have been a commercial success right from the get-go, it has set new records in the opening weekend, reaching the top spot with numbers that surpassed Ed Sheeran’s release of ‘Divide’ from 2017 (via Reuters). But at the same time, the release of more than 20 versions of the album with minuscule bonus content in each of them has her fans in contention.
If getting all of these versions wasn’t enough for a Swiftie, she has also released limited-edition covers for her physical copy sales, which will not be available after stocks run out. This type of scarcity selling technique, along with many songs not being stated to be up to the mark, has even her rabid group of fans voicing their concerns.
