The reality spin-off, Squid Game: The Challenge, borrows heavily from the source material of the Netflix show, Squid Game. The reality series recreates many of the iconic games from the original show, from Red Light, Green Light, Tug of War, and the honeycomb challenge.
It also includes elaborate sets, costumed guards in pink jumpsuits, and a towering piggy bank looming above the players. Like the original series, the competition starts with 456 contestants vying for a massive prize of $4.56 million.
Lee Jung-Jae portrays Seong Gi-hun in the Squid Game series. This dark, dystopian thriller explores themes of economic desperation, class disparity, and the human cost of capitalism. But it is safer to say that the reality series focuses on competition and strategy instead of life-or-death drama.
