Netflix’s Same Day with Someone ends on a hopeful note with Mesa finally breaking free from the time loop by saving someone she’s ignored. And in doing so, she returns to the temple, to the red ribbon goddess in the final scene as a symbol of growth.
Same Day With Someone is a Thai Netflix Original movie that follows Mesa, a museum curator who finds herself trapped in a time loop. Directed by Yanyong Kuruangkura and Rangsima Aukkarawiwat, the movie stars Jarinporn Joonkiat as Mesa, Warintorn Panhakarn as Ben, and Charlette Wasita Hermenau as Ning (via Netflix). The movie was released on Netflix on September 18, 2025.
The ending of Same Day with Someone deserves explanation because it weaves together her personal growth, her relationships (especially with her friend Ben and her assistant Ning), and the meaning of the goddess statue she grew up believing in. Why she returns to the temple at the end is deeply tied to how she changes inside.
Here’s everything you need to know about Same Day with Someone ending explained:
How Did Mesa Save the Girl’s Life on the Same Day With Someone Ending?
Same Day With Someone follows Mesa, a young and privileged museum curator whose seemingly perfect life unravels overnight. In the very first scene, we see Mesa arriving at her great-great-grandfather’s old, deserted mansion. Inside the mansion, she goes to a temple dedicated to the red ribbon god.
Mesa prays for the fulfillment of her future dreams, including her wish to turn the mansion into a museum and, lastly, to find a loving husband. Her wishes seem to come true until August 8 arrives. On August 8, she wakes up at 6 a.m. on her first big exhibition day.
However, everything goes wrong; the ancient artifact, the pork belly-looking Sirsila stone, breaks before the Chinlin Ambassadors. As if it wasn’t enough, her fiancé, Nul, calls off the wedding. Then she wakes up to relive the same disastrous day over and over.
As Mesa relives August 8 many times, she discovers more about Ning, her assistant/friend. Ning has been suffering quietly. She’s been physically abused by her boyfriend and is thinking of taking her own life. In the same repeated time loop, we saw Ning always come and deliver a parcel.
However, this time Mesa notices the bruises. She notices the receiver’s name on the parcel box, which reminds her of the same name heard on the radio of a suicide case. Mesa asks Ning her full name, Lalita Patnon, and it’s the same name she heard on the radio.
Now, Mesa’s only motive was to save Ning from taking her life. It’s the same Mesa who was stuck on fixing the stone and her marriage with her fiancé, but now it’s about saving someone else she has come to care about deeply. She realizes it’s the only way to fix everything.
When Ning attempts to jump off a bridge in one of the final loops, Mesa rushes after her. She argues and tries to reason with her. Ning confessed her jealousy of Mesa’s perfect life while she’s suffering. Mesa tells her that they will fix everything together as she is her friend.
However, with Tul’s intervention, both Mesa and Ning slip and fall from the bridge. This time, Ben arrives at the right time with the rescuers and saves both of them. This act of saving Ning is the turning moment as she stops thinking about herself for the first time. After this, Mesa wakes up on the next day (August 9), meaning the loop has ended.
Was Mesa Using Ben to Get Out of the Time Loop on the Same Day With Someone?
Early on, Mesa leans on Ben a lot, who was going to study in France in just two days. As she suffers from the never-ending cycle, she shares everything with Ben. They tried every big measurement to stop the time loop, but failed miserably. Eventually, Ben also becomes trapped in the loop, waking up at 6 a.m. and repeating the same day over and over.
However, Ben suggests that they should seize the opportunity to do everything they have always wanted to try. They start checking off items from their bucket lists, from international trips to getting tattoos and more. During this time, as they engage in heartfelt conversations, both of them develop feelings for each other and share a kiss. Not to forget, in one time loop, Mesa discovers that her fiancé has been cheating on her with another woman.
Despite trying various strategies to escape the time loop, Mesa believes the only way to break it is to sleep with Ben. They share a passionate night, both expecting to wake up beside each other. However, Mesa finds herself alone in her bed the next morning. At this point, she feels like she has completely lost her mind.
In her frustration, she breaks the goddess idol. When Ben confronts her, he promises that they can fix everything together, but Mesa tells him she can’t approach it as lightly as he does. Ben asks her if she really loves him or is just using him to get out of the time loop. She always loved him, but she’s determined to take matters into her own hands. She goes to the museum and shatters the Sirsila stone herself. Ben expresses that she has made him lose faith in her.
By the end of Same Day with Someone, Mesa’s relationship with Ben shifts. During this time, when Mesa discovers Ning’s bruises, she also resolves the missing step in the stone cabinet by looking at the manual. Mesa finds out that the missing part was the screw that she found in the very first time loop we saw. While the cabinet is fixed, Ben also discovered that in that time loop, the Sirsila stone didn’t break. In the end, it was Ben who brought the rescuers with him to save the Ning and Mesa.
Helping Ning, being honest, accepting imperfection, these are what truly break the loop. And finally, she woke up beside him on August 9, breaking the time loop. And yes, she may have taken help, but she never used him. However, Ben is going to study in France, and he’ll return after two years. Mesa finally breaks things off with her fiancé, closing the chapter of another time loop.
In the final scene, Mesa encounters a woman at the museum hall who appears to be the red ribbon goddess. The woman thanks Mesa for bringing life to the museum and reminding her what truly matters. The woman is actually the narrator who reminds her that everything the deity does is for a reason. Now that her wishes are fulfilled, the goddess will not meet her again. Mesa goes back to the temple and ties the ribbon just like the very first scene we saw on Same Day with Someone.
Our Verdict on Same Day with Someone Ending?
The temple and the goddess statue represent Mesa’s childhood ideals. Throughout the movie Same Day with Someone, Mesa’s pursuit of perfection leads her to overlook the importance of empathy and human connection. Her return to the temple signifies that the true fulfillment comes from understanding and helping others.
The act of tying the red ribbon at the temple symbolizes Mesa’s acceptance of imperfection and her commitment to personal growth. It marks the end of her journey through the time loop and the beginning of a new chapter.
The ending of this time-loop rom-com is strong and satisfying. Mesa doesn’t just wake up and everything is perfect. But the lesson is learned through saving Ning, the honest shift in relationship with Ben, and the symbolic act at the temple all make sense given her journey. She has changed, though some losses remain. However, it works; the message lands clearly.
