A new report from @HollywoodHandle suggests that Avengers: Doomsday has reportedly wrapped filming this week. The filming began in April 2025 at Pinewood Studios in England, with filming also taking place in Bahrain. Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU as the villain Doctor Doom, while Anthony and Joe Russo are helming this Marvel film after Avengers: Endgame.

Even if the reports were to be true, it means that Marvel still has a long road to travel before the film hits theaters in December of next year. Given that Marvel movies undergo a lot of changes before the final product hits the screen, we wouldn’t be surprised if Downey Jr. and other actors were called back for reshoots.
With a year of post-production ahead, directors the Russo brothers and Marvel boss Kevin Feige would make sure that all talents are put to the right use. Feige addressed the fact that changes happen on an everyday basis on the set of Doomsday. At a press event in July, he stated (via THR):
There’s plus-ing happening every day on the Avengers: Doomsday set right now, and it is amazing to watch because what those filmmakers, those actors, both the ones that are playing these characters for the first or second time and the one playing them for the 10th or 12th time, are the best in the world at it, and know these characters so well.
The early wrapping of the filming has also sparked speculations about the screen time of certain actors. A couple of days ago, Cosmic Marvel reported that Tom Holland has arrived at Pinewoods for the shoot of Spider-Man: Brand New Day
However, the current update may indicate that Holland may have little to no role to play in the ensemble film. Similarly, news emerged about Pedro Pascal finishing his scenes earlier than others. It also led to speculations that he would have limited screen time in the movie.
Avenger: Doomsday Reportedly Drops First Synopsis
Marvel Studios has reportedly released a first synopsis of the upcoming Avengers film, Avengers: Doomsday, at the Disney Marketing Expo in China. The X handle, @AvengersUpdated, shared this synopsis of the movie, which read:
Doctor Doom has officially arrived in the MCU. This villain, a master of cutting-edge science and powerful magic, will unleash a cascading crisis across the entire multiverse.
The synopsis only confirms what most fans had already expected from the film. Earlier, during the Disney Expo in Shanghai, the company revealed the first images of Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom costume.

Downey Jr’s Doom has already arrived in the MCU in the post-credits scene of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The villain is only seen from behind as he takes off his mask and leans over Franklin Richards. Fans are excited to see more from the actor.
Avengers: Doomsday Reportedly Had a Chaotic Filming Schedule for Actors
Avengers: Doomsday is one chaotic set, and these set stories and rumors tell us exactly why. We heard from Alan Cumming recently, who is all set to reprise his X-Men 2 role as Nightcrawler in Doomsday. He shared that he had no clue what he was filming or who he was filming with.
Fans are calling out Marvel’s filmmaking process, which is essentially taking the life out of the movie and the characters, according to them. Cumming shared with GoldDerby that he filmed Doomsday in isolation. He admitted that he didn’t actually know what was happening and shared that he was just fighting fake faces and fake names the entire time. He shared:
I did the entire film in isolation. Lots of green screen, face replacement. They even gave characters fake names. I don’t know who I was acting with half the time.
Fans didn’t take his hilarious admission that well. They accused Marvel’s strategy of avoiding leaks of being lazy (via ComicBookCast). It was pointed out that stars not filming their scenes together was bound to affect the final product in some way.
Then, there’s the set fight that many speculate to have taken place between Ryan Reynolds and RDJ. John Rocha of The Hot Mic podcast claimed on The Kristian Harloff Show that two actors clashed on the Doomsday set after one of the actors jokingly made a comment about the other that went too far.
