I have been John Cena’s most prominent critic in recent years. Please don’t misunderstand, I would never say Cena has no talent. Peacemaker season 2 is proof that he does. However, after leading numerous Hollywood flops in recent years, such as Hidden Strike, Freelance, and the Vacation Friends franchise, I began to question his ability to select good and impactful projects.
Peacemaker season 2 episode 6, titled “Ignorance is Chris,” though, has been claimed by creator and director James Gunn as the best performance of Cena’s career. And you know what? He is right about his performance overall, and not just this episode. Cena is both funny and touching, delivering a heartfelt performance that resonates long after the final credits roll. Yes, Cena is that good.
Bold, shocking, and provocative, with a jaw-dropping Superman cameo, streaming superhero series don’t get better than this. But hey, don’t take my word for it, watch it for yourself, and come back to let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
HBO Max’s Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6 Recap: How Does Emilia Plan on Bringing Back Chris?
The episode picks up where Chris (Cena), Auggie (Reacher’s Robert Patrick), and Keith (Bosch: Legacy’s David Denman) are celebrating their victory in the alternate dimension. Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) is also there. Chris is enjoying his family and the love of a good woman. They all even take a selfie together with some kids.
Meanwhile, Harcourt, Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), Chase (Freddie Stroma), and Economos (Creature Commandos’ Steve Agee) begin a plan to get Chris back. They head over to Adrian’s home, where he lives with his mother. In his basement, he has millions of dollars, weapons, and drugs from when he would bust drug operations as a Vigilante.

We also learn that Chase told his mother that he and Emilia dated. They use the portable quantum tunneling device, a metal, purse-like object that Chris uses to create portals to different dimensions, to jump to Chris’s father’s home so they can access the Quantum Tunneling Room. Adrian gives Emilia the code to a portal that goes to the ‘best dimension,’ which is Chris’s room.
HBO Max’s Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6 Recap: Why is Hardcourt Arrested?
Keith walks into Chris’s room. The group hides, but Emilia is there. She pretends to be looking for her boyfriend. Keith volunteers to drive her down to A.R.G.U.S. headquarters. When they arrive, she is detained because she still has cocaine remnants on her jacket from Chase’s home-based evidence and property room.
Meanwhile, Chase continues to be obsessed with his alter ego in the better dimension. He finds the home and is delighted with the inordinate number of squirrel figurines, as well as the fact that his keys still work. Adrian heads down to the basement, where he finds Chase 2.0. At first, I was worried the new Chase would put a bullet in his head.
Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 4 and Spoiler Review — Why Does Harcourt Betray Chris?
However, as soon as he explains, they both become best friends. Yet, that is not even the biggest shocker of the episode. General Rick Flagg (Tulsa King’s Frank Grillo) heads down to Louisiana to meet a prisoner to help him track down Peacemaker. At first, I thought it might be Chris’s father. However, James Gunn and company reveal a jaw-dropping cameo, the biggest of the year
HBO Max’s Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6 Ending Explained: Why Does Rick Flag Visit Lex Luther in Prison?
Rick Flag visits Lex Luther (Superman’s Nicholas Hoult) to help him find Chris. How? Lex first doesn’t understand why Flag is worried about a costume superhero rather than metahumans. Luther, though, tells him he has a tracker to find which dimension Smith has jumped to. In return, Flag will transfer Lex to Van Kull, a maximum security prison prominently featured in the Arrowverse.
Finally, Peacemaker ends with a jaw-dropping reveal that happens at the end of the episode. Adrian from the new, better dimension tells Chase that he hates Chris, that he is his archenemy. Additionally, this is why he joined the Sons of Liberty. We then see the friendly Emilia enter A.R.G.U.S. This is after Chris tells our Hardcourt that he is in love with her.
Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 5 and Spoiler Review — Why Does Chris Leave and Where Does He Go?
Unfortunately, she is unable to be vulnerable enough to return the same feelings. Chris manages to have A.R.G.U.S. release her. That is when Harcourt notices she has not seen a person of color since entering the “better” dimension. Chris notices an American flag with a swastika replacing the stars. Also, Ads goes for a walk, Keith and the neighborhood chase her, saying a “black got out.” The episode ends with Ads running for her life.
