P Diddy has been sentenced to four years and two months of prison time, which includes the time he has already served. Marc Agnifilo, Diddy’s defense attorney, shared outside the court that they had a “strong basis to appeal” (via LiveNOW/YouTube). He shared that the jury found out that there was no coercion, but the judge brought it up numerous times.
He shared, “The jury reached a verdict on coercion and found there was not coercion and I think the judge said coercion today as a basis for his sentence at least a dozen times.” He shared that it was “unconstitutional.” Agnifilo shared that he thinks the jury’s verdict “should mean more,” for which reason they are planning to appeal.
When asked about what would happen if the prosecution files an appeal for a higher sentence, Agnifilo shared, “He would not get a higher sentence and they’re not going to cross-appeal.” He added that the prosecution might respond to their appeal.
They further declined to comment on what Diddy said after the sentencing. However, he shared that they were going to try and find the right facility for Combs as they move forward with the appeal. Diddy can appeal the decision within 14 days.
Another attorney for Diddy, Brian Steele, told CNN that the sentence “sends the wrong message.” He shared that Combs was sentenced for conduct that the jury did not find him guilty of, adding that it was “un-American.”
P Diddy Is Sentenced to 50 Months in Prison
On October 3, 2025, Judge Arun Subramanian delivered the sentence that included 50 months in prison, a $500,000 fine, and five years of supervised release after his jail time. BBC reported that Diddy was quiet and emotionless in his chair and looked down as the judge delivered the sentence.
Earlier in court, Diddy got emotional when he apologized to his family for his actions. His voice broke as he shared, “Mom, I failed you as a son. I’m sorry. You taught me better. You raised me better.” He apologized to Cassie Ventura and his other victims, calling his actions “disgusting, shameful, and sick.” He shared, “I take full responsibility and accountability for my past wrongs.”
He asked the judge for “another chance” to live a better life. Six out of seven of his children also spoke at his sentencing. The four-year prison sentence was standard for the charges he was convicted of. Prosecution had originally sought 11 years of jail time for Diddy, but he will now be looking at a release from jail in 2029 at the earliest.
Some sources suggested that he could be out in 2028 for good behavior. Since Diddy’s charges are considered non-violent offenses, he also becomes eligible for parole consideration. Parole for such federal inmates is typically considered after they have served one-third of their sentence.
Judge Arun Subramanian Admonished Diddy at Sentencing
Diddy’s fine of $500,000 was the maximum fine that Judge Arun Subramanian could impose under the charges. He noted that it was an upward variation from the sentencing guidelines. He claimed that the maximum fine was necessary, given the hip hop mogul’s “immense resources, which enabled his crimes” (via CNN).
The judge wasn’t kind in his words towards Diddy during sentencing, sharing, “A history of good works can’t wash away the record in this case. You abused these women. You used that abuse to get your way, freakoffs and hotel nights.” He shared:
The evidence of the abuse is massive. The drugs may have exacerbated your erratic and violent behavior over the years. However, the court has to consider all of your history here.
Subramanian shared that he didn’t see any reason to deviate from the recommended range in the pre-sentencing report, which was 70-87 months. The maximum sentence for his crimes was 20 years, with 10 years for each count. If he had been convicted of the other charges against him, he would’ve faced a sentence of life in prison.
The judge also added, “The court is not assured that if released, these crimes will not be committed again.” Diddy has already served 12-13 months in prison after he was arrested on September 16, 2025.
