P Diddy Details Positive Prison Changes in Apology Letter Before Lawyers Announce Appeal Plans

By John Gonzalez 10/05/2025

Following his time in prison, P Diddy issued an apology and talked about the changes that he experienced while living in prison. The music mogul, who was on trial for engaging in two charges of pr*stituion, was given a sentence of 50 months in prison, $500,000 in fines, and five years of supervision after his prison sentence by Judge Arun Subramaniam.

However, a day before his conviction, Diddy issued an apology letter detailing how “good things have come out of my incarceration”. According to NBC News, Diddy stated that he was sober for the first time in 25 years.

I am now sober for the first time in 25 years. I have been trying my best to deal with my drug abuse and anger issues and take accountability as well as positive steps towards healing.

He further wrote,

The old me died in jail and a new version of me was reborn. Prison will change you or kill you—I choose to live.

With Diddy talking about change in his personal life, it seems that his legal team is going the other route, as Sean Combs’ attorney has now vowed to appeal for a retrial.

P Diddy’s Legal Team Confirms Appeal on Alleged ‘Unfair Trial’

According to a report by News Nation Now, following the conviction, Diddy’s lawyer was heard outside the court stating that they are planning to make an appeal.

Accusing the judge of being the unofficial “13th juror”, attorney Marc Agnifilo stated that the judge second-guessed the jury’s verdict and that they have a strong basis to appeal.

We are planning to appeal. We think we have [a] strong basis to appeal. What we feel happened today was that the judge acted as a 13th juror, one we did not choose, and that he second-guessed the jury’s verdict.

Well, with Diddy talking about the positive reforms of serving a prison sentence and Diddy’s legal team wanting to make an appeal, it’s an intense situation, and the American rapper has a choice to make.

Will Diddy Fight or Accept His Punishment?

The rapper does have a choice of appealing since you can appeal within 14 days of conviction to the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. The attorney will likely write a basis of ‘unfair means’ for a retrial, which the Second Circuit has to approve for a retrial.

However, with Diddy’s positive message about spending time in jail, it seems that the American rapper might have accepted his situation for the time being. Of course, it’s a decision that the legal team of Diddy and the music mogul will have to make.

It’s completely up to Diddy whether he wants to push for a retrial or accept the punishment that Judge Arun Subramanian has given him. A former prosecutor also stated that the storm is far from over for Diddy.
