Warning! This article contains spoilers for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1!
Outlander: Blood of My Blood is securely established with its first season, so we can look forward to the confirmed season 2. This prequel series explores the stories of Jamie and Claire's respective parents, and the first batch of episodes already came with a slew of surprises. There's plenty of love, betrayal, murder, time travel, and lovely Scottish landscapes, and there's more to come in the sophomore season.
Season 1 of Outlander: Blood of My Blood introduced Henry and Julia Beauchamp, as well as Brian and Ellen Fraser, establishing how these romances first developed. Interestingly and surprisingly, we also saw how these two couples' paths crossed, since it was quickly revealed that Henry and Julia didn't die as Outlander had established, but jumped through time instead.
With these surprises out of the way, the Outlander prequels' first season dived into the details of the story. The two couples overcame their various obstacles and found their way into one another's arms. Of course, in classic Outlander fashion, this surely won't last long. The season 1 finale left each couple off on a cliffhanger, and all we can do is wait for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2.

The biggest news for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 is that the episodes are currently in production. Filming began in June and is expected to continue going into the final months of 2025.
Blood of My Blood season 1's big cliffhanger means that there is a lot of room to speculate about what will happen next. Luckily, the creatives behind the series, as well as the cast, have already shared some news about what we can look forward to.
Author of the Outlander books, Diana Gabaldon, has worked as a consultant and writer on the series, and said after the season 1 finale that "what they do with Henry in the very beginning [of season 2] is both very dramatic and heart-wrenching." Precisely what this means, of course, is still unclear.
Jeremy Irvine, who plays Henry, also revealed (via The Wrap) that there are big surprises in store for Blood of My Blood season 2, as well as some "awkward conversations" between Henry and Julia about their time apart. Hermione Corfield (Julia) added that Henry and Julia have had practice dealing with unusual experiences in their marriage. "I think this is a whole new challenge for them [to] learn forgiveness and … reconciliation."
Outlander: Blood Of My Blood Season 2 Cast Details
Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 will bring back the central cast from season 1, with Jeremy Irvine as Henry Beauchamp, Hermione Corfield as Julia Beauchamp, Jamie Roy as Brian Fraser, and Harriet Slater as Ellen Fraser.
We all expect to see more of clan Mackenzie going into Blood of My Blood season 2, as the Scottish Highlanders enter into the Jacobite uprisings. This would mean the return of Seamus McLean Ross as Colum and Sam Retford as Dougal. They are sure to be accompanied by Conor MacNeill's Ned Gowan, while Rory Alexander's Murtagh sticks by Brian and Ellen's sides.
As far as actors who likely won't be returning for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2, John Lumsden's Malcolm Grant can be counted among them. Though the actor could return for flashback scenes, Malcolm's tragic death in season 1 eliminates him from the playing field.

Still, as far as Blood of My Blood season 2, we can only guess about what will come next. The big mystery that the coming episodes will have to answer is where Henry, Julia, and William will land after they touch the standing stones. The tease from the stars indicates that Henry and Julia will remain together, but does that mean William will get through the stones with them?
Brian and Ellen are sure to be separated again in Blood of My Blood season 2, since Brian has no choice but to fight in the Jacobite uprising. They will come back together to start their lives at Lallybroch, but the when and how is still uncertain. For now, all we can do is wait and see how the action, romance, and endless misadventures play out.
