Only Murders In the Building Season 5 Episode 3 Ending Explained: What Did the Trio Find Out About Jay Pflug?

Spoiler Alert !!!
This article contains spoilers from Only Murders in the Building Season 5, Episode 3!

Only Murders in the Building did a great job of airing the first three episodes altogether! Thanks to Hulu, too. It has gripped the audience while also revealing significant details about Season 5. Episode 3, Rigor, starts where the first episode left off.

Charles (Steve Martin) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) can hear Oliver (Martin Short), who is up in the laundry store with Nicky’s dead body. Charles asks him not to touch the body, as it can leave his fingerprints on it, making him an alleged murderer. Not knowing what to do, Oliver, with his amazing mind, thinks of an idea that might doom the trio! But it sails off.

Mabel, Charles, and Oliver Dive Into Nicky’s Shocking Corpse Clues

Oliver manages to cross Uma (Jackie Hoffman) with his weird tactics and brings Nicky Caccimelio’s lifeless body to Charles’ apartment. Coming as a shock to both Charles and Mabel, they seem to be taken aback for a moment, but Mabel suggests autopsying or investigating the body themselves.

The trio starts with their investigation, while discovering many facts that could lead them to the real murderer. On the other hand, Charles hallucinates about Nicky talking to him on timely occasions.

The trio finds a white paint-like substance on Nicky’s coat, then a burn mark that can be caused by cold temperature, with Mabel citing that it is exactly what is keeping the body from rotting. Charles suggests that Mabel looks really happy with the autopsy thing, which the latter cites as ‘giving off Meredith Grey vibes.’

Later on, they discover that it is morning, and they need to place the body exactly where Oliver recovered it. With the next mission up their sleeves, the trio heads out. But how will this go seamlessly? Fair enough!

While en route, Mabel sees a diary in Randall’s (the new Doorman) hand, which can contain major clues about Lester’s death. Oliver advocates and goes to recover it. Meanwhile, Mabel meets one of her friends, Althea, who is now a star.

While the two get busy conversing (not such a good vibe, though), Charles pushes the laundry cart to deliver Nicky’s dead body to the same place. Putting him back, dodging two policemen, Charles returns home to find Mabel sad.

Mabel, who met Althea (now T.H.E with a bar on e), is sad due to her friends’ mocking. A minute ago, she was happy about her life, but now meeting an old friend brings her sadness. Charles motivates her while Oliver comes onto the scene with the diary.

Reading the diary, the trio learns about birds, gardenias, and other information. They discover dollar amounts in the diary when Mabel scratches a page with a black chalk-like thing.

Intrigued, they also find out about the game that happens on Saturdays. Lester was asked by Nicky to allow his guests to play this game that happens in the secretive ‘Velvet Room.’

Charles, Mable, and Oliver volunteer to find out what happens in those games as a part of their next mission to solve Lester’s death case. At 11:30 at night, they gather and go to the room. Talking about the same, they see the guests coming in.

The trio hides behind the bar table and looks at the guests. They are shocked to discover that it is Sebastian ‘Bash’ Steed (Christoph Waltz), a tech billionaire and a lifestyle enthusiast.

Besides him is Jay Pflug (Logan Lerman), who is the heir of a pharmaceutical magnate, and the last person is identified as Camila White (Renée Zellweger), who is an entrepreneurial designer and a hotelier.

Such powerful people with $53 billion, $19 billion, and $47 billion of net worth, respectively, are definitely not mobsters. Later, towards the end, Jay Pflug walks to the bar counter, pouring a drink. A noticeable thing is that he has a bandage on his hand with an index finger missing! Was Oliver’s ‘Shimp Finger’ in the first episode, Pflug’s?

Why do these billionaires come to Saturday parties? What connection did Nicky Caccimelio share with them? Drop your theories in the comments section!
