One Piece Fans Are Calling Kaido a Fraud After God Valley Flashback, Here’s Why

By John Jones 10/13/2025

The ongoing God Valley Flashback has unveiled a plethora of mysteries that have been hidden within the narrative for a long time. However, it has also resulted in One Piece fans calling Kaido a fraud because of the way he reacted when he snatched the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu from Big Mom. This proved his own statement during Wano wrong, which was a shock for fans.

During Wano, when Kaido was battling Luffy, he pointed out the fact that Haki would be the power to conquer the seas, not Devil Fruits. While the statement felt true at the time, in the flashback, when he acquired his Devil Fruit powers, it didn’t look like he fully believed it himself. Thus, there must be a reason why his opinion about Devil Fruits and Haki changed.

What Changed Kaido’s Perspective About Devil Fruits and Haki?

Kaido’s statement about Haki has been proven correct many times in One Piece. From his clash with Luffy in Wano to Joy Boy’s Haki attack in Egghead, the narrative has already established that there is no other power bigger than Haki within the series. Thus, there is a strong possibility that while Kaido initially believed Devil Fruit was the ultimate power, some unique experiences after God Valley must have changed his opinion in a big way.

As One Piece fans know, Kaido’s true reign as one of the strongest pirates in the series started after the God Valley Incident. He started his own crew at some point and gained so much fame and recognition for his might that he earned the status of Emperor of the Seas. However, it wouldn’t have been possible without him battling with some strong pirates, navy soldiers, and other characters within the series.

The experiences from his journey most likely made him realize that Devil Fruits may be a strong power, but nothing beats Haki. In fact, Haki has the power to negate the abilities of Devil Fruits. Thus, he most likely realized that to rule the epic seas of the One Piece world, a person needs strong Haki, not just a powerful Devil Fruit.

God Valley Proved Haki Is the Strongest Power Through Imu

Considering the ongoing developments in the God Valley Flashback, it is safe to assume that Kaido’s opinion about Haki and Devil Fruits most likely changed during the God Valley Incident itself. One Piece Chapter 1162 saw one of the biggest displays of Haki abilities by Imu, which even shocked the heavy hitters of the series like Monkey D. Garp and Gol D. Roger.

Imu took on Saturn’s body to deal with the mess of God Valley, and he unleashed his Haki, proving that he is currently the strongest Haki user in One Piece. The characters who evidently battled against him were Xebec, Whitebeard, and Kaido. Thus, it is likely that witnessing Imu shake the entire God Valley Island using only Haki made Kaido realize the true strength of Haki as a power in One Piece.

God Valley Flashback still has some narrative developments left, which will most likely mark the conclusion of one of the most anticipated storylines in One Piece. Hopefully, we will learn how it affected every character involved in the incident. Do you think Eiichiro Oda will recreate something as big as God Valley to highlight the power of Haki?
