One Piece Episode 1143 Review: The Five Elders Get Serious About Luffy and Vegapunk’s Threat

Spoiler Alert !!!
This article contains spoilers for One Piece Episode 1143.

I have always admired Eiichiro Oda’s knack for building suspense, and I felt that same gripping tension with One Piece Episode 1143 as Vegapunk’s truth was about to be revealed to the entire world. This message is undoubtedly one of the most significant revelations of the story. The episode does an excellent job of showing how the whole world seems to hold its breath as he prepares for it. However, it also became a slight problem for the pacing.

One of the best moments for me was to see Luffy deal with Saturn and Kizaru, which made the rest of the Five Elders realize that they needed to step in. The cliffhanger was absolutely perfect, and it made me realize that the battle of Egghead is finally getting serious. The thrill was always there, but Episode 1143 raises it to the next level, pushing the tension even further.

Vegapunk Prepares to Shatter the World With His Truth

One Piece Episode 1143 begins with Vegapunk preparing to broadcast his message to the world, and it genuinely felt monumental. The story has always carried a sense of tension around revelations like the Void Century, the Ancient Kingdom, and the hidden truths that the World Government has buried, and it felt like it was finally time to find out about them. Sadly, we will have to wait one more episode for it because Vegapunk decided to give the One Piece

world a few minutes to set up the broadcast.

While it disrupted the pacing a little bit, I loved how the show cut to different regions of the seas as people stopped their daily lives just to hear what Vegapunk has to say. It was a nice touch that added more to the seriousness of the message and how it will completely change the One Piece world. From the World Government to the Revolutionary Army, everyone wants to know what Vegapunk’s message will be, thus building on global anticipation.

It was only the first half of the episode, yet it already had me excited for the next installment, and that perfectly captures the brilliance of Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece. If only Toei Animation could improve the pacing, the entire Egghead Island arc could stand as one of the greatest story arcs in One Piece history, purely because of the groundbreaking revelations it holds.

Luffy’s Clash With Saturn Forces the Five Elders to Act

I was also happy to see that in the midst of Vegapunk’s broadcast, the story didn’t ignore the ongoing clash between Luffy and the World Government. Luffy’s fight with Saturn carried a new weight because it is no longer just about destroying Egghead. The Five Elders are finally starting to recognize him as a true threat to the World Government, which is why they decided to step in. While their main goal is to stop Vegapunk’s broadcast, they know that it won’t be possible without defeating the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates.

Luffy’s attack against Saturn was a particularly special moment for me because it showed how far he has come, and the way the animation captured the brilliance of Gear Five was absolutely perfect. It is rare to see Luffy fight with this much raw determination without holding back, and this episode captured it in the best way. However, it slowly got overshadowed by the appearance of the rest of the Five Elders, bringing the episode to its conclusion with a thrilling nail-biter.

In all honesty, the entire One Piece Episode left me hyped and anxious for the next installment, knowing that things are about to explode in a way we have never seen before. The long-awaited final showdown on Egghead has begun, and I just hope that the upcoming episodes carry the same thrilling tone. It will keep the tension high as Luffy faces the Five Elders and Vegapunk’s revelations continue to shake the world.
