Since his introduction in One Piece, Monkey D. Dragon’s tattoo has been one of the most mysterious elements tied to his identity, and toptpodcast on Instagram might have just explained its origins. Dragon has a massive role to play in the final saga, something that has been indirectly confirmed by Eiichiro Oda through his recent developments in One Piece manga.
However, there is a possibility that Dragon’s past might also add plenty of twists to the plot, because he might be a Shandorian. This also links to his son Monkey D. Luffy, who is destined to save the One Piece world because of his cultural connection to Shandora that was hinted at through the golden bell of Skypiea.
The Speculated Origins of Monkey D. Dragon’s Tattoo, Explained
Dragon’s identity, his ultimate goal, and his power have been a secret that One Piece fans have been trying to find out for a long time. His face tattoo plays a big part in his identity, and this was confirmed by Eiichiro Oda recently when he showed the same tattoo on his arm during the God Valley flashback in One Piece
According to toptpodcast, it has been hinted multiple times that Dragon’s tattoo is most probably part of the Shandorian tribe because the people of Shandora were seen wearing similar markings during the Skypiea arc. This hints that Dragon’s lineage, either from Garp’s side or from his mother’s side, could be connected to the ancient Shandorian bloodline.
What adds more substance to this speculation is the golden bell of Skypiea, which has engravings of golden monkeys wearing straw hats. These engravings create a speculation that maybe the Monkey family had roots in Shandora. Thus, the tattoo on Dragon’s arm and his face might be his way of accepting his lineage and following its principles in One Piece.
Luffy’s Father Trusts Him To Save The World
The golden monkey engravings on the golden bell of Skypiea might also draw parallels with Luffy and his destiny to save the One Piece world. Maybe Dragon found out about it later in the series, and thus put his belief in his son to not only help him take down the World Government, but also carry the weight of protecting the world from their tyranny.
The golden bell engravings most probably work as a prophecy suggesting that a monkey (family) wearing a straw hat will most likely save the world. Dragon knows about this prophecy, and maybe he is working in the background to create a scenario where Luffy can fulfill this prophecy on his own. This would add to his role as the father of the protagonist in One Piece.
Monkey D. Dragon holds many significant positions in One Piece, and the recent developments in the manga are an indication that, just like the past, his actions could drastically reshape the future of the world. Hopefully, Oda has planned something big for him. Do you think Dragon will join Luffy in his speculated battle against the World Government? Let us know below!
