Nicolas Cage Coming to MCU? Ghost Rider vs Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday Now Possible (Report)

Nicolas Cage might make his way into the MCU if the exciting updates by Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus regarding Avengers: Doomsday are true. In part one of the September 2025 Q&A, Perez answers questions, including when the whole cast of the movie would be revealed:

There are still some characters Marvel are keeping secret until the premiere. Some of these characters are new, some of these characters are old, and some are legacy. And the goal is not to reveal them until the release of Doomsday.

This opens up the possibility of Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider joining the MCU as the Russo Brothers are assembling a wide array of superheroes to face the multiversal threat of Doctor Doom.

Why a Ghost Rider vs Doctor Doom Battle Would Be Epic

In Midnight Suns #2, a version of Ghost Rider (Spirit Rider) is pitted against Doctor Doom when Doom claims to have “vanquished many Ghost Riders over the years”. The two Ghost Rider

movies have featured Nicolas Cage’s version, who makes a deal with the devil. Here are key details of the two films:

Doctor Doom and Ghost Rider clash with one another thematically, with opposing philosophies. Doom uses a combo of science and sorcery to get his way, whereas Ghost Rider is the physical manifestation of hell’s uncontrollable vengeance. A clash of ideologies would be man-made destruction versus divine intervention.

Doom possesses extreme willpower and brains, often bending the will of others to his own nefarious schemes. Ghost Rider becomes his most destructive self in a bout of rage as he wrestles with the Spirit of Vengeance.

Ghost Rider’s most powerful weapon in his arsenal is his Penance Stare, which allows him to look deep into a person’s eyes and judge them for their transgressions. In contrast, Doom hides behind his mask, making for an interesting match-up if the Ghost Rider decides to use this on Doom.

A visual spectacle could unfold where Ghost Rider uses his chains in a fiery battle against Doom’s tough armor. Ghost Rider can team up with other strong Marvel superheroes in their fight against Doom, but there are some we’re shocked are not officially a part of the movie.

Other Unconfirmed Marvel Heroes Who Should Be in Avengers 5

A huge list of Marvel superheroes has dropped in an attempt to face the villain Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, but there are a surprising number of unconfirmed heroes:

With Marvel dropping the synopsis for the flick, the most surprising one of the lot is Doctor Strange being unconfirmed for Avengers: Doomsday. The plot reveals that Doom will unleash a crisis across the multiverse, and the one who began the multiversal incursions was none other than Doctor Strange.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has been integral in the MCU for the past few years and is officially a part of the Avengers. Let’s not forget that Bruce Banner is part of the founding MCU Avengers group.
