Nicki Minaj has found herself in trouble after failing to satisfy a court-ordered debt, worth $503,318 (via Page Six). According to court documents filed in October, Thomas Weidenmüller has requested the court to intervene after Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty, refused to pay the amount awarded to him through a default judgment.
Weidenmüller was Minaj’s head of security during a 2019 concert in Germany, where he got into an altercation with Petty. Minaj’s husband assaulted him, following which Weidenmüller filed a lawsuit seeking retribution. However, neither Minaj nor Petty responded to this lawsuit, prompting the court to enter default judgments against the couple.
The victim’s legal team argued for forced sale after conventional methods to collect the amount had proven ineffective. It meant that Minaj is set to lose one of her major real estate assets in the process.
Nicki Minaj Is Set to Lose a Major Asset From Her Real Estate Portfolio
Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty face the risk of losing their Hidden Hills estate in California if the court complies with Thomas Weidenmüller’s request for a forced sale. It is a major asset for Minaj, spanning 11,820 sq ft and featuring eleven bedrooms and sixteen bathrooms.
Minaj acquired the property for a whopping $19.5 million in December 2022. After appraisals, the current value of the property is estimated to be $20 million. However, court documents reveal a mortgage lien of $13,258,000 plus a homestead exemption of $722,151.
Even with these liabilities, the house will make for $6 million in available equity, something that far exceeds the half-million-dollar judgment requirements. Weidenmüller’s team argued that the sale of the property would satisfy the judgment while leaving substantial funds remaining for Minaj.
According to California law, there is no mandate for exhausting alternative collection strategies before arguing the forced sale of property. If Minaj and her husband continue to maintain their silence, she would lose a substantial asset from her estimated net worth of $130 million (via Celebrity Net Worth).
Minaj and Petty were married in October 2019 and welcomed son Papa Bear in September 2020. Minaj was recently in the news for her social media feud with Cardi B and other musicians.
What Happened at Nicki Minaj’s Concert in Germany?
Thomas Weidenmüller was head of security for Nicki Minaj’s Nicki Wrld Tour stop in Germany on March 22, 2019. According to him, a confrontation took place backstage after a male concertgoer breached security protocols and approached Minaj during her performance.
She allegedly directed her anger at a female security guard before Weidenmüller intervened to defuse the situation. However, his intervention allegedly caused Minaj to lash out more, and she later summoned him to her room. Weidenmüller claimed that Petty and his security personnel were present in Minaj’s room.
He shared that the situation got out of hand and alleged that Petty threw an unexpected punch to his face. Weidenmüller claimed that he was diagnosed with a fractured jaw and required surgery. He shared that he underwent eight surgeries to reconstruct his damaged jaw over the months. He claimed that five metal plates were inserted into his facial structure.
This led Weidenmüller to file a lawsuit against Minaj and Petty. He was awarded the default judgment in March 2024.
