NCIS: Tony & Ziva Episode 8 Review: Henry’s Disappearance Is Not What You Think

By James Johnson 10/09/2025

After weeks of slow-burn tension, shadowy missions, and long-overdue emotional reckonings, NCIS: Tony & Ziva Season 1 Episode 8 finally delivers the spark fans have been waiting for. In the previous episodes, we watched Tony and Ziva cautiously rebuild their fractured bond, trading barbed banter for stolen glances, all while dodging bullets, lies, and ghosts from their past.

But just as they began to find their rhythm again, Episode 7 ended with a brutal twist: the team’s intel on Jonah and Martine was compromised, and trust within the group started to crack. Episode 8 picks up right where it left off, throwing us into a mission laced with betrayal, a killer robotic dog (yes, seriously), and a gut-punching flashback to Tony (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva’s derailed wedding plans.

Between missions, a robotic dog and Henry’s vanishing act, this episode really keeps you on the edge of your seat. Buckle up!

Tony and Ziva’s Emotional Journey in NCIS Episode 8 Rebuilds

The emotional tug-of-war between Tony and Ziva in NCIS: Tony & Ziva Episode 8 hit harder than I expected. I’ve been patiently watching their tension simmer over the past episodes, but here? It boiled. We finally got glimpses of the tenderness that once defined them, resurfacing like bruises that ache in the rain.

The flashbacks to their abandoned wedd ing plans have my heart. Tony wanted a proper celebration with friends and family. Ziva, on the other hand, was still clawing her way out of the shadows, unsure of who she was outside the agency life. Their breakup wasn’t loud or ugly, it was human. That, to me, is what made their current reconciliation so bittersweet.

When their hands brushed during the mission, it wasn’t “just” fan service. It felt like a payoff, something earned, not handed to us on a silver platter. Real relationships are messy, and theirs is a storm that keeps brewing, even in the calm.

Ziva’s PTSD in NCIS: Tony & Ziva Episode 8 Was Handled With Rare Touch of Realism

Let’s talk about that Heavy Reign firefight. Explosions, gunfire, and chaos galore. But it was Ziva’s reaction that stole the show for me. Her PTSD wasn’t just written in for drama; it was depicted with care. The way the noise transported her back to old traumas, the tremble in her breath, the flicker of fear in her eyes, it felt real, not dramatized.

We’ve seen so many shows use trauma as a plot device, but here, Ziva’s struggles didn’t define her; they deepened her. She’s strong, yes. But she’s not invincible. And that’s what makes her compelling. Her decision to push through the pain and stay focused on the mission gave me chills.

The Killer Robotic Dog in Episode 8? Yes, It Was Bonkers, But It Worked

Now, let’s address the mechanical mutt in the room. Yes, Aaron Graves’ robotic dog-of-death was ridiculous on paper. But shockingly? It clicked. It fit the chaotic, tech-thriller energy this show has leaned into lately. Between Tony’s duck-and-cover moves and Ziva trying to keep her cool, I was living for the madness.

And when the EMP took it down, along with all the team’s electronics? I winced. That’s classic NCIS: just when you think the squad has a win, boom everything’s wiped clean. Two episodes left, and now they’ve got no data, no leverage, and no clear lead. Peak tension.

Jonah’s Shocking Betrayal in NCIS: Tony & Ziva Episode 8 is Unexpected and Brutal

The betrayal we didn’t see coming was Jonah turning on Martine. I mean, it was really scary! Their bond has been dark and oddly intimate, a twisted mirror of what Tony and Ziva could’ve become without their conscience. Watching Jonah flip on her is gut-wrenching.

Martine’s unraveling post-betrayal was something else. When she pointed that gun at Lazar? That wasn’t a villain moment. That was a woman who’s lost every ounce of faith she had in people. And I don’t blame her. But that makes her more dangerous than ever because now she’s got nothing to lose.

Claudette and Boris Steal the Show in NCIS: Tony & Ziva Episode 8, Again

I want to give a standing ovation to Claudette and Boris! Their energy is unmatched. She’s the sass to his chaotic brilliance, and together they’re walking comedic relief, without undercutting the stakes. The moment Claudette had to hug her old college rival just so Boris could do his tech magic? That’s the kind of absurdity I signed up for.

They’ve become the unspoken glue of the team. Their jokes may be light, but their loyalty runs deep. Every mission, every fumble, every risky decision, they’re there. And I wouldn’t trade them for anything.

NCIS: Tony & Ziva Episode 8 Ending Explained

The final few minutes of the episode left me shouting at my screen. With the EMP nuking their data, the whole team is back at square one. Ellen, Julia, and Henry are suddenly caught in the crossfire, figuratively and maybe literally.

Henry’s sudden disappearance is really suspicious. Julia’s cryptic text to Ellen? Even more so. And Ellen? She’s way too calm for someone whose life might be imploding. My theory? One of them flips. One of them dies. One of them disappears. The question is who’s who?

The writers are clearly stacking the chessboard for something explosive in the finale. No move feels accidental. No scene feels wasted.

Is NCIS: Tony & Ziva Episode 8 Worth a Watch?

Episode 8 is a powder keg of action, emotion, and tension, with just enough humor to keep it from going off the rails. The performances are layered, the writing is sharp, and the pacing? Chef’s kiss. It respects its characters’ pasts while daring to challenge their future. And that’s rare.

What did you think about Jonah’s betrayal? Is Martine the real endgame villain here? And seriously, how are we feeling about that robotic dog? Do you think Tony and Ziva are actually heading for a peaceful future… or another emotional cliffhanger? Let me know in the comments!

NCIS: Tony & Ziva is streaming exclusively on Paramount+, with new episodes dropping every Thursday.
