Despite losing his powers to All For One in Season 3 of My Hero Academia, the importance of All Might in the story has never deterred. Season 8, more commonly known as the Final Season, kicks off with a fated rematch against the villain. However, since he’s Quirkless, he now uses a new form: Armored All Might.
This still begs the question of whether All Might will regain his power later in the season. Since My Hero Academia’s manga has ended, we already know the answer, and unfortunately, it’s no. He won’t regain One For All back, and the Quirk now resides in Midoriya.
That doesn’t mean All Might’s role in the story has ended yet. With the Armored All Might mech suit, he pushes back against All For One, but with a little help along the way.
All Might’s Legacy Continues in an Unconventional Way in Season 8
For years before My Hero Academia began, All Might had been the No.1 Hero for decades. He saved civilians with an unfaltering smile on his face and inspired many to rise and become their own Hero. The prime example is the protagonist, Izuku Midoriya, who idolized him and eventually inherited his Quirk, One For All.
All Might’s story, however, isn’t too far from Izuku’s. Yagi Toshinori was a Quirkless student during an era where crimes and chaos were rampant. His entire family had died, too. This inspired him to become a powerful hero, and he would keep fighting villains regardless. He met Nana Shimura, the seventh holder of One For All, and he became the eighth.
Through My Hero Academia’s current timeline, All Might felt almost untouchable in the eyes of the public. We knew better, though. His true form was fragile, and his control over One For All was slipping. That still didn’t stop him from being the hero everyone needed him to be. Even losing his Quirk in Season 3 didn’t mean he gave up.
After he lost his powers, All Might engineered the Armored All Might mech suit to fight against him once again. The best part is that it emulated the powers of Class 1-A’s students, showing that his legacy isn’t just his, but it lives on in future generations. It’s an unusual way for All Might to fight, but it didn’t make his comeback any less inspiring.
Stain Accepts All Might as the Only True Hero in My Hero Academia
Although Stain despises heroes after learning how decayed and rigged the system is, he still idolizes All Might. While most heroes were seeking fame and fortune, he knew that the former No. 1 Hero only had pure intentions. He even defends his honor against Tomura, who seeks to kill him.
Initially, Stain was a vigilante, and we met him as Stendhal in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. His development is amongst the best, from the terrifying Hero Killer to an ally of the heroes in Season 7 and 8. In the latest episode, he saved All Might from All For One by paralyzing him with his Quirk.
All Might is an incredible character who represents what a true hero should be like. Even as he didn’t stand a chance against All For One, he smiled, knowing that he had help too. Stain saved him because he made him understand that.
Unfortunately, Stain won’t last very long in the battle against the antagonist. It’s a bittersweet moment that closes his story and encourages All Might to live on. Overall, Season 8 will portray what we’ve known about All Might: that he will fight for what’s right, with or without his Quirk.
My Hero Academia can currently be streamed on Crunchyroll.
