The PlayStation State of Play 2025 was packed with reveals, but Insomniac stole the spotlight with Marvel’s Wolverine gameplay trailer. The two-minute trailer may be brief, but it contains a wealth of details that are easy to overlook. Thus, we’ve compiled a list of easter eggs and details that you should have paid attention to.
1. Short Wolverine (Comic Accurate)
While the movies often portrayed Wolverine as tall and rugged, the comics have always depicted him as our beloved short king. The upcoming game leans into that comic-accurate design, staying true to his original look. This faithfulness is even more noticeable when you see him rocking the iconic yellow-and-black X-Men suit. Deadpool can’t make fun of that now.
2. Reavers Will Get Their Importance in the X-Men Universe Story
In the gameplay trailer, we see Wolverine fighting a bunch of cyborg soldiers. In the X-Men universe, they are called the Reavers, who have been dedicated to taking revenge on Wolverine in Uncanny X-Men.
3. The License Plate on Wolverine’s Bike Pays Tribute to the Comics
The gameplay trailer of Marvel’s Wolverine shows a section where Logan is riding his bike. If you pay close attention to the licence plate, you can see the number 229. This might be referencing Uncanny X-Men 229, since the game features Reavers.
4. Princess Bar (From Marvel Comics Presents #1)
It wouldn’t be Wolverine if he weren’t found in a bar with a glass of Bourbon. In the first reveal trailer, we got to see a Logan in a bar, and this time, we know what that place is. The new trailer reveals the Princess Bar in Madripoor, a spot closely tied to Wolverine’s Patch persona. Interestingly, though, this time Logan isn’t wearing the iconic eye patch while visiting his favorite haunt.
5. Is That Tyger Tiger or Rogue?
Once Wolverine steps inside the bar, a character in a solid green outfit can be spotted. This could potentially be Tyger Tiger, given her ties to the same comic arc as Patch. However, it might also be Rogue, since green has long been associated with her character’s color scheme.
6. Omega Red’s Big Debut
Omega Red has gotten a lot of mention in comics, but movies have completely left out the menacing character. However, Insomniac saw this as an opportunity to bring the mutant who seeks the death of Wolverine.
7. Trask Will Play a Big Role in the Story of Marvel’s Wolverine
The trailer also reveals a Sentinel, hinting that the eradication of mutants will play a major role in the story. And who else but Bolivar Trask would push for such a harsh sentence on mutantkind? Soldiers can also be seen in the trailer working under Trask, further suggesting that a large-scale manhunt for mutants could form the backbone of the game’s narrative.
8. Mystique Is Cryptic As Ever
The trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine also showcases Mystique disguised as one of the Reavers. Instantly, we can see her taking Reavers down, which makes her seem to be working alongside Wolverine. However, she has always maintained a duality. Maybe Raven isn’t working alongside Logan, and only fighting to avenge the Mutants.
Those were all the tiny extra details we found amusing in Marvel’s Wolverine. Were you able to catch all these details while watching the trailer? Come nerd out with us in the comments; we always love a discussion.
