Marvel & DC Confirm Batman Needs 2 Moves to Beat Deadpool That Once Killed All Marvel Heroes

Marvel and DC saw the crossover between Batman and Deadpool, and in the opening battle, the Caped Crusader bested the Merc with a Mouth in just two moves. In the crossover event, Deadpool jumps over to the DC universe and enters Gotham on a job before Batman catches him. The two engage in a verbal and physical battle soon after.

The two heroes are quite powerful and have their own strengths. Batman knows hundreds of forms of martial arts, and Deadpool has gone to the extent of killing all the Marvel heroes once. However, the latest comic answered who would take down the other in a fight.

Batman starts the combat with an elbow strike on Deadpool. As the latter uses tear gas to distract him, Batman uses his grappling hook to tie up the Merc with a Mouth, besting him in just two moves.

Marvel/DC Crossover Between Batman and Deadpool Ended With a Joker Connection

Zeb Wells wrote the story for the Batman and Deadpool crossover event, while Greg Capullo, a Batman veteran, illustrated the issues. The storyline is part of a major Marvel and DC crossover event, which features unlikely team-ups, like Captain America and Wonder Woman, Green Arrow and Daredevil, and more.

The Batman vs. Deadpool storyline is set in a universe where Marvel and DC superheroes coexist, unlike other crossovers where they are verse-jumping. It sees Wade Wilson come to Gotham on a job to find Batman, and while they immediately go to a rough start, as Batman captures Deadpool in only two moves, they team up to find the Joker.

The unlikely duo finally finds the Clown Prince of Crime, only for Deadpool to betray Batman, as it was Joker who hired the Merc with a Mouth to find Batman. The three engage in battle again, and while the fight is resolved, there is no clear winner in the story. The Joker, as always, escapes harsh punishment from the Caped Crusader.

Batman vs. Deadpool Should Have Been More Nuanced in Its Battle

Batman and Deadpool are quite an unexpected and unlikely duo. Marvel and DC knew what they were doing with such a collaboration, with a brooding vigilante and a meta, fourth-wall-breaking superhero coming together. It is like Deadpool & Wolverine, but significantly darker and with bigger stakes.

At least, the stakes should have been bigger. The comic ends up being just a novelty factor, a ‘what if’ that does not give any interesting conclusion. Part of the problem with Marvel and DC crossovers is that there is no good way to end a conflict or a debate without it being a mutually assured victory.

The battle between the two heroes could have been better explored in the comic, without it just being a ploy by the Joker. Deadpool’s healing factor combined with Batman’s tactical skills would have made for an incredible combat that could go on and on. It had the capability of being ultra-violent.

Deadpool’s unhinged behavior was also mostly limited to his jokes and not any unpredictable moves. Deadpool’s personality may discourage some from taking him seriously, but he once beat Taskmaster by making his fight patterns so unpredictable that he could not analyze them. This was quite a missed opportunity in that regard.
