Little Nightmares 3 has finally been released, and this time, the developers, Supermassive Games, have cranked the fear up to eleven. While most people got the experience they wanted, a few of you are still surfing the web to know more about the ending. So, we decided to make an article where we explain to you the ending of Little Nightmares 3, but be wary of spoilers. Without any further ado, let’s get started.
What happens to Low and Alone in the end?
The entire journey of Low and Alone in Little Nightmares 3 is spent hiding away from the monsters and desperately finding those fractured gateway mirrors to escape the nightmare that they are in. After the final chapter ends in The Institute, we see that Low has reached the mirror that has guided him the entire story.
When he tries to escape the nightmare using the mirror, it shatters, and we see Alone disappear. This reveals that Alone is Low’s imaginary friend, and she was basically the doll that Low held onto during his time at The Institute, where he had nothing but draw.
When Low tried to escape, Alone was spat out from the mirror and disappeared, and Low was left behind in a version of the world that feels kind of off, and the creepy vibe of the whole thing just makes you feel like you are stuck in another nightmare. In the post-credit scene, we see Low looking at the broken mirror pieces, hoping to fix it, so he can get reunited.
Does Little Nightmares 3 have a different ending?
Unlike Little Nightmares 2, where there were two different endings for Mono, in Little Nightmares 3, there is only one ending, and while it might seem like the bad ending or not the true ending, it is the only ending you will get, no matter what collectables you collect or choices you make.
This game is not about winning; it is a survival horror story that takes place in a nightmarish world. It is emotional and linear, and instead of branching off to different possibilities, the developers probably wanted to focus on the meaning of it all, which emphasizes that the system is broken and escape is nearly impossible.
Little Nightmares 3 is all about puzzle-solving and surviving monsters, so having multiple, drastically different endings would require changing the game structure and going against the tight, cinematic, and single-vision narrative. This single ending in the game drives the final, horrible twist for Low and Alone, and this gut-punch lands harder than a couple of watered-down alternatives.
