Kratos’ New Weapon Leak Points to Bold New Direction for the Next Mainline God of War Game

According to the latest God of War leak, Kratos’ new weapon might be a sword from a land far away from Norse mythology. The leak comes from @InsiderGaming‘s Co-Founder and Editor-In-Chief, Tom Henderson. In the recent episode of Insider Gaming Weekly on YouTube, Henderson revealed that the next mainstream God of War game, which is in development by the way, will feature Kratos with a weapon.

While nothing about the next game in the franchise is officially confirmed (at the time of writing), we suggest you take this leak with a gra in of salt.

Leak Suggests Kratos’ New Weapon Originates from Egypt

As we mentioned, Tom Henderson specifies in the leak that Kratos will receive a sword to tackle enemies in the next installment. However, he also says that this weapon somewhat looks like an Egyptian sword, the one we call Khopesh in the real world. This sword was wielded by ancient Pharaohs and other leaders of this region’s pantheon.

So, does that mean Kratos will leave behind the rest of his weapons in the upcoming God of War game? Logically, there is no need for the Ghost of Sparta to leave behind any of his weapons from the previous game. He was using his Blades of Chaos from the early GoW games in the newer titles, so it’s logical to assume he will retain his current arsenal. But at the end of the day, it all depends on the creative decision of Santa Monica.

The Egyptian sword might play a crucial role in defeating the enemies that appear from the sand. It would be interesting to see where and how Kratos gets it, as every weapon in the God of War has its own lore and importance. Moreover, experiencing Kratos’ chemistry with a new weapon feels just right for a new installment in the series.

Kratos Heading to Egypt in the Next God of War Game Makes More Sense Now

After the God of War Ragnarok finally concluded with Kratos getting his redemption, players soon started wondering what’s next for his team-up with Mimir and Freya. We already knew something big was on the way, as Kratos clearly mentions that he finally sees a path, and there is much to rebuild in the future.

With several leaks and rumors circulating over the years, players are increasingly convinced that Egypt is the next stop. And with the above Tom Henderson leak about the Egyptian sword spreading like a wildfire, this makes even more sense now. All we have to do is wait for the next PlayStation State of Play event, which is rumored to take place at the end of this month.
