Kit Harington did not feel too comfortable reliving the time his costar Bella Ramsey helped him remember lines during their filming for Game of Thrones. Harington recalled during a conversation with Interview Magazine how his young costar would save him whenever he forgot his lines:
I do remember you helping me out and it being quite humiliating. [Laughs] But yeah, thanks for that. I’ve probably chosen to forget it… If anything I was like, “Oh god, I’ve got to up my game. I came here not really being comfortable enough with my lines, in the arrogance of however old I was, thinking I’m just opposite some child. And then that child ac tor is wiping me off the screen.” Not that it’s a competition, but you’re like, “Oh, I’ve got a bit too comfortable in my Jon Snow-ness.”
As Harington jokingly explained, he was embarrassed that an 11-year-old child, who was just starting in the acting business, managed to prepare for their scene better than he did. Ramsey said it was all in good intentions.

It’s no secret that Ramsey, who uses they/them pronouns, wowed fans with their incredible acting skills and commanding presence in the show. Even behind the scenes, the young actor proved that talent has no age. Harington was clearly blown away by how well-equipped Ramsey was.
Then 11-year-old, Ramsey did not feel like a child while shooting for Game of Thrones. The young star exuded confidence, which Harington also shared in the interview. “You brought a confidence and clarity that was quite unusual for a young actor,” he said, later adding that he did not feel like he was working with a child but an experienced performer.
Ramsey’s Lyanna Mormont was introduced in Season 6, and despite the character’s short-lived presence, the young star was able to leave a mark and make the Lady of Bear Island shine bright.
While Harington admitted he got a little too comfortable playing Jon Snow, Ramsey made sure Lyanna kept the grown men of Winterfell on their toes whenever she was around.
Despite a Brief Role, Bella Ramsey Left a Lasting Impact on Game of Thrones
Ramsey was supposed to only show up in Season 6, but fans loved Lyanna so much that the showrunners decided to keep the character until the final season. Viewers found Lyanna’s sharp wit and sheer confidence to face a bunch of men really impressive. For a child actor to perform with such gravitas was indeed a challenging yet successful endeavor.
Even though Lady Mormont did not make it out alive of the show, her memory lingers not only within the story but also among the community. Fans still regard her as one of the best and most unexpected characters to ever grace the show.
