Kevin Feige might be on his way to ruining the Marvel project that inspired Robert Downey Jr.’s end in Avengers: Endgame. Although Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine died in Logan, the actor donned the adamantium claws again for his 2024 flick with Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool & Wolverine.
Fans thought that this would be the last time that Jackman would don the claws of Wolverine. However, notable insider Daniel Richtman is stating that Marvel Studios plans to keep Jackman around for “more projects even after Secret Wars.”
This would, in turn, ruin the ending of Logan, which was supposed to be the definitive ending for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
Kevin Feige Was Inspired By Logan For Avengers: Endgame
Well, Kevin Feige clearly stated that the death of Wolverine in Logan back in 2017 was one of the biggest inspirations that he had for Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man for Avengers: Endgame
Speaking on the Assembled: The Making of Deadpool and Wolverine documentary (via Disney+), the President of Marvel Studios revealed that he always believed Logan‘s ending to be the best.
I had always been very vocal with Hugh [Jackman] that he had one of the best endings of any fictional character ever. And I told him that is so amazing, what he was able to accomplish in ‘Logan.’
He continued,
That’s what we were striving for with Robert Downey Jr. in ‘Endgame,’ is to give this incredible, iconic fictional character an amazing ending.
Well, being inspired by Logan was certainly the right step for Kevin Feige’s MCU, but with the rumors that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will return post- Avengers: Secret Wars, Feige might just be ruining one of the best superhero endings of all time.
How Hugh Jackman’s Return to the MCU Can Ruin The Best Superhero Movie
Well, it was Hugh Jackman’s wish to retire from the character of Wolverine and hang up the Adamantium claws for good. However, with his return in Deadpool & Wolverine, fans were a bit dismayed that Wolverine’s high-end in Logan was dismissed.
With the potential rumors that Wolverine will return post-Avengers: Secret Wars, the ending of Logan would simply feel like an excessive dramatic scene that had no real consequences.
Although fans do love Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and would surely love for him to return, the whole premise of Logan would just feel redundant and… unreal.
