The statement has already caught fans’ attention, as this match has been planned for quite some time. However, no concrete reports had previously come forward stating whether the two wrestlers would be competing against each other.
Nevertheless, the report has divided fans, with some supporting Team Cena, who expect him to become a Grand Slam Champion and have the ho nor of defeating both Mysterios. While others are Team Dom, and they can’t wait for the double champion to boast his win for generations to come.
Dominik Mysterio Declares He’s Ready for John Cena
With John Cena’s retirement closer than ever, he would try to get his hands on the Men’s Intercontinental Championship, the one title that stops him from becoming a Grand Slam Champion. However, achieving this feat will be no easy task, as Dominik Mysterio has no intention of letting go of his IC title, and he has made this clear.
Appearing as a guest on the Rap On Wrestling podcast, Mysterio challenged The Chaingang Soldier to bring his A-game if he really wants to finish all the “little side quests” at the end of his career. He said,
I mean, he can try, and what’s that thing he says? If you want some, come get some. You know what? John, you know where I’m at. If you want to come finish your Grand Slam quest, these little side quests you’re on, I’m here all day. Every Monday, you know where I’ll be.
Though Cena has never competed for the coveted title in a formal storyline in WWE, it will be interesting to see how WWE would book him against the young wrestler. But more importantly, would Cena winning the title make sense, as he will be retiring in December 2025?
John Cena vs. Dominik Mysterio: The Match WWE Fans Can’t Miss
John Cena versus Dominik Mysterio has been a conversation topic in the WWE Universe for quite some time. This idea became all the more possible when the 17-time WWE Champion gave an opportunity to Logan Paul to show what he has got to prove that he belongs in WWE.
For Dominik Mysterio, that surely is not the case, but it will help him to establish himself as the future of WWE. In the current male locker room, Mysterio is one of the hottest names, becoming an absolute fan favorite. From being a cocky champion to pulling cheat moves from Eddie Guerro’s books, the fans adore how he reminded them of the WWE legend.
The two crossing paths for one last time would be massive, where Mysterio successfully retaining the title would mean two things. Firstly, it would establish the fact that he is ready for bigger challenges, potentially earning him a shot at the WWE Championship. Secondly, it will pass the torch, showcasing how the next generation of wrestlers is equally talented and shares the same vision to entertain the fans.
However, for Cena, the win would be equally important because the Intercontinental Championship is the one title that has always eluded him, and he never got a real opportunity to compete for it. The two wrestlers have competed previously in a dark match in 2023 (via Cagematch), where Cena got the better of Mysterio.
It has been two years since they last competed in a singles match, and Dom-Dom has grown significantly, refining his in-ring skills and becoming more confident in himself. If WWE intends to book the two talents at Survivor Series: WarGames, it will be intriguing to see how that will be done, as fans have been feeling skeptical following Wrestlepalooza.
If the reports happen to be true, and John Cena comes after Dominik Mysterio’s IC title, who will you be siding with? Let us know in the comments below!
