Is Wednesday Queer? Decoding 5 Moments That Hint Enid and She Will Be Dating

Netflix’s hit series Wednesday’s season 2 is the current topic of fervent discussion on the internet. Within it, the fan speculated relationship between the werewolf Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) and Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) has become a major talking point. But is it just fan speculation, or is Wednesday queer? Some major moments strongly hint that the two could date in the future. Number 1 being Enid sacrificing her humanity in the finale of season 2.

Dubbed “Wenclair” by fans, their story began when Wednesday moved into Nevermore Academy and became Enid’s roommate. Ever since season 1, many viewers have noted the strong chemistry between the two leads, which, according to many, surpasses even that between Wednesday and Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan). So, what are these moments that signal growing intimacy between the werewolf and the goth girl?

5. The Season 1 Finale Climactic Hug

The finale of season 1 of Wednesday saw Enid “wolfing out” (the show’s term to describe the werewolf transformation) because she saw that Wednesday was in danger. This was a significant milestone for Enid because she had never transformed before.

In fact, she was such a late bloomer that her parents, especially her mother, wanted to send her to a camp to help her along. It’s certainly interesting that the urge to protect Wednesday was so strong that it caused Enid to transform for the first time. She also thankfully succeeded in saving her roommate from Tyler’s attack.

Their hug at the end was significant because it symbolized Wednesday, who famously didn’t want to hug her (or anyone else) in the beginning of the season, finally accepting Enid as a safe space and a friend (at least).

4. Enid Being Jealous of Agnes

Agnes (Evie Templeton) showed up in season 2 of Wednesday as the titular heroine’s fangirl. She tagged along with Ortega’s Wednesday and was almost like her shadow, doing her bidding. This made Enid uncharacteristically jealous, and she could barely tolerate her presence in Wednesday’s life.

On the Wednesday season 2 official podcast called Woecast, hosted by Caitlin Reilly, Emma Myers explained why Enid was so jealous of Agnes. She said:

Enid feels replaced and she always been insecure about not fitting in and not getting to keep her friends and when Agnes comes in and Wednesday’s really fine with her tagging along, I think it hurts Enid a lot cause all she wants is Wednesday’s attention.

While Enid has always been searching for a place where she belonged, and seems to have found it with Wednesday, but being this jealous of a girl (and almost seeing Agnes as direct competition) raised quite some eyebrows in the fandom.

3. “You’re My Pack Wednesday“- Enid Sinclair

In Wednesday season 2, when Enid is locked in the Lupin cage, she confesses to Wednesday that she thinks of her as her pack. This moment has already gone viral online because of the potential implications of the line. The new season shows that Enid already has a pack with Bruno and the others.

However, from the beginning, she has been insistent on Wednesday meeting them, instead of staying aloof. Her confession means that she always saw Wednesday as part of her pack and wanted them all to hang out together. This is a sweet moment that shows how much Enid values her roommate (as also maybe something more?)

2. Wednesday and Enid’s Banter

Wednesday- “My plan was unfolding with the precision of a Swiss watch

Enid- “Until that second Hyde showed up and smashed the watch.”

This is just one example of the great banter that Wednesday and Enid engage in season 2 of the show. Jenna Ortega even said in an interview with Cosmopolitan Indonesia that they “have a very visceral reaction to one another… we kind of bicker like an old married couple.”

Whether it is arguing over why Wednesday didn’t include Enid in her plans or worrying over how to act in each other’s bodies, their banter showcases their chemistry and shows why fans love the pair so much.

1. Enid Transforms Into an Alpha and Dooms Herself

One of the biggest revelations of Wednesday season 2 is that Enid is an Alpha werewolf. This means that if she transforms, she will remain stuck as a werewolf, and her pack will hunt her down. That is exactly what happens when she wolfs out to save a buried Wednesday.

This is a major sacrifice from Enid, a girl who has always feared being alone. She overcomes that fear for her roommate, or rather, she willingly sacrifices her humanity, knowing that she will remain trapped in her wolf form forever. It is a powerful confession of love, whether you think of them as friends or something more.

Once Wednesday gets saved, the two share a moment where the former looks at wolf Enid’s eyes, and then the latter runs off. Just as she had vowed before, Wednesday accompanies her uncle Fester to find Enid.

Season 3 could very well be vastly focused on the two, as the one major question remains: what will make Enid change back into a human? Will it be Wednesday? If it is Wednesday, then the two could share a connection that goes beyond plain friendship.

These are just a few moments that showed Enid and Wednesday’s deep bond. What other moments from season 2 of Wednesday come to your mind regarding these two characters? Do you love the idea of Wenclair actually happening? Let us know in the comments below.
