While The Summer I Turned Pretty series concluded with Belly announcing her love for Conrad, the story isn’t over, as a movie continuation was announced at the finale’s red carpet celebration in Paris.
Jenny Han, the author of the books the show is based on, will pen the final chapter in Belly’s journey. In her statement, she said (via Variety):
There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due. I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans.
Although the details remain under wraps, other than the fact that it’ll be a direct continuation of the series, we might already know Belly’s big milestone.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Might Be Exploring Conrad and Belly’s Wedding
The announcement doesn’t seem like Amazon’s attempt to milk the cow dry after season 3 racked in 25M viewers in its first week. From Han’s statement, it’s evident she didn’t plan the story to end on the finale’s note. As for where Belly’s journey could head, Belly and Conrad might tie the knot.
Considering the story concludes with Belly and Conrad getting married in the books, it makes sense for that to be the likely destination, especially after Belly confessed to Conrad that in every world, she would choose him.
This would explain why the author sees Belly’s next step as her big milestone, also giving fans the closure they’ve been awaiting since the series first premiered.
Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studio’s Global Head of Television, Vernon Sanders, expressed excitement over joining forces with the author to realize her vision for the duo.

Although no release date has been unveiled, with Han herself in charge of the story, it might not be long before fans get a taste of the final chapter.
