For 2 years since Jonathan Majors was put in Hollywood limbo, the actor’s name has resurfaced in MCU circles. New rumors on social media are talking about his character, Kang the Conqueror’s comeback in Avengers: Doomsday. Majors himself was more than excited to get back on the MCU horse. When USA Today asked him in March 2025 about a potential callback, he claimed:
Yeah, of course, I say yes. Disney, Marvel Studios, I love them. Tom Hiddleston, loved working with that guy. Loved working with Paul Rudd. Loved working with Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
Although Marvel has moved on from the topic of his being the big bad of the Multiverse Saga, there are still some fans who are on board with the idea of his return in the near future. Several scoopers like Marvel Update and The Beyond Reporter have spoken about his potential comeback. But none of these scoops have yet come to fruition.
Kang’s Doomsday Cameo Rumors Debunked

On 18 December 2023, The Hollywood Reporter dropped a major bombshell about Jonathan Majors’ firing from Marvel. As its main antagonist, he had no more possibility of a screentime, which had the MCU scrambling to rearrange the entire plot of the Multiverse Saga, replacing Kang with Doctor Doom, and The Kang Dynasty with Avengers: Doomsday.
Nonetheless, fans of Kang the Conqueror and Jonathan Majors have been on social media for 2 years preaching about his supposed return in Doomsday. The most recent rumor came on September 12, 2025, when a Twitter/X user posted:
Jonathan Majors will reportedly return as Kang in ‘AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY’

However, soon after this was posted, the source debunked the rumor, saying that their claims were only meant as a personal wish rather than an official comment.
I didn't say that, please delete it. https://t.co/nHWQWamVmr

Are you blind? I said "I believe" I didn't say Kang will officially return
— The Beyond Reporter (@BeyondReporter) September 13, 2025
2024, old news, I don't even remember the source of this news
— The Beyond Reporter (@BeyondReporter) September 13, 2025
Without any official comment from Marvel Studios, Disney execs, or even Kevin Feige on the matter, it is hard to accept any individually posted third-party scoops as official confirmation about a cameo as major as Kang’s.
Jonathan Majors Seeks to Redeem Himself Through His Latest Role

One of Majors’ movies that got affected due to his assault trial and eventual conviction was Magazine Dreams, a story about a socially outcast bodybuilder whose dreams consume his whole life, all while he tries to take care of his ailing grandfather.
The official logline on IMDb reads: An amateur bodybuilder battles both the limits of his physical body and his own inner demons to gain recognition.
Though the role was shelved in 2023, the film was finally released theatrically in 2025. In his interview with USA Today, Majors expressed how passionate he was about getting himself recognized through the movie and his work in it:
I love the industry so much, and now I’m in the place where I can feel the love from them and actually express my love for them. For a long time, my mind was set very much like Killian: “If I do this well, you will love me… If I give everything I got in preparation in between action and cut, there’s no way you can’t love me.”
Majors claims that although the isolation and abandonment from the industry weren’t great, he has grown and matured more in the 2 years since. The time that he got to overcome his personal hurdles and work on himself has brought him to a point where he is more confident and assured of himself.
I can give you all of me as a character between action and cut, and I can give you all of me as myself in the trailer and (off the set). Still got to prep. Let’s not get it twisted, I still need to focus. I still need do my job.
Magazine Dreams is a role that he thinks will prove how committed Majors is to the art and the industry. An awards-clincher through and through, the movie has put the actor back on track for bigger roles after 2 years of uncertainty in Hollywood.
Below is a list of all the major films from the actor’s oeuvre, and their critical ratings:
