The Camp Rock 3 is officially happening (via Deadline), and it doesn’t come as a surprise. After Demi Lovato guest-performed on Jonas Brothers‘ ONAS 20: Greetings from Your Hometown Tour, rumors picked up about the long-awaited threequel in the Disney Channel Movies franchise.
Although Lovato remained tight-lipped, she did hint at the threequel in the recent episode of Watch What Happens Live (via Decider).
Is Camp Rock 3 happening? I saw that Joe said something and I’m really excited for the new generation to take the lead. You’ll just have to wait and see.
Her response was in reference to Joe Jonas’ recent comments in Hot Ones, where the singer playfully revealed he had “Read Camp Rock 3”, written in his notes app. Fortunately for fans, the swirl of rumors is over, as Disney has confirmed the third movie is indeed happening.
The Jonas Brothers Join Camp Rock 3, Demi Lovato Executive Produces
Camp Rock 3 has been greenlit for Disney+, and the Jonas Brothers are set to reprise their roles as Shane, Nate, and Jason Grey. The story will follow Connect 3 returning to Camp Rock to find fresh talent after they lose their opening act for a reunion tour.
New cast members include Liamani Segura as Sage, Malachi Barto as Fletch, Lumi Pollack as Rosie, Hudson Stone as Desi, Casey Trotter as Cliff, Brooklynn Pitts as Callie, Ava Jean as Madison, and Sherry Cola as Lark. Maria Canals-Barrera’s Connie will also return.
President of Disney Branded Television, Ayo Davis, deemed the project a full-circle moment.
Camp Rock is an important part of the Disney Channel Original Movie legacy, with unforgettable music, energetic storytelling, and characters that live in the hearts of fans to this day. Bringing it back with Kevin, Joe, Nick and Demi is such a full-circle moment, and we can’t wait to reintroduce this world to a new generation.
Demi Lovato will serve as an executive producer on the project. However, it remains unclear whether she will reprise her gig as Mitchie Torres. Considering she’s a fan-favorite and was one of the major highlights of the Disney Channel Movies, it’d be a shame if the threequel doesn’t at least feature a cameo of Mitchie as the franchise eyes to rock a brand new generation.
