Charlize Theron has thrived in both dramatic films and blockbusters. As an actress, she has given her all to the roles she chooses, including appearing nude on screen. The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star has bared it all in several movies over the years, including her debut film, 2 Days in the Valley.
Theron said that while she was not too concerned with her looks while doing such steamy scenes, she did have a condition on agreeing to it. She told The Daily Telegraph that she agrees to it if it makes sense within the script, and said to MTV (via Nicki Swift),
I need an angle. I like angular nudity.
The actress has undressed in several movies in her filmography, and while most of them are erotic, she has also displayed vulnerability in movies like Atomic Blonde.
Charlize Theron Said She Was Uncomfortable With Nudity Only Twice in Her Career
Charlize Theron has proven herself to be a powerhouse performer with several incredible roles under her belt. From moderate successes like The Devil’s Advocate to her Oscar-winning performance in Monster, Theron has completely immersed herself in any role and has delivered solid performances.
While films like Monster saw her at her rawest and most unhinged, she has also exhibited s*x appeal on camera. She has performed many steamy sequences in multiple films, including the drama The Burning Pain, which begins with her completely nude. The actress revealed the secret to her being comfortable with such sequences.
Talking to W Magazine with her Prometheus co-star, Michael Fassbender, with whom she had an intimate sequence in the movie, Theron said that the comfort she shared with her co-stars was important in achieving great chemistry and for her own comfort.
I’m not hung up on my body or being nude. So, I don’t have issues with that. I think it’s just comfort. Like, I’ve been very lucky to work with people whom I’ve been really comfortable with. And then I’ve had maybe two occasions where it’s been uncomfortable. I wasn’t necessarily with the greatest partner.
She joked that Fassbender was one of the two, but ultimately did not name the two people with whom she did not have comfort while filming the scenes.
Theron Revealed How She Pulls off Being Nude on Screen Without Insecurity
Acting on screen is already a vulnerable process, and actors are usually concerned with how they look and are perceived because of how the camera captures them. Adding nudity on top of that is putting actors in their most vulnerable state.
However, Theron mentioned that she did not have any such insecurity and was fine with how she looked. Talking about her nude scenes in various movies, she said that she is least bothered by her looks but more by her performance (via TODAY).
That isn’t about me. I don’t look at the movie and go, ‘Jesus, my a** is really saggy.’…I feel like I always reveal too much. There’s something sexy about the mystery. I don’t know how to play that card, though.
The actress mentioned that she was also very secure in revealing her authentic self during interviews, which sometimes could work against her and reduce the mystery. However, she still felt comfort.
