27 Nights (27 Noches) is a recent Argentine film that premiered globally on Netflix on October 17, 2025, after opening at the San Sebastián International Film Festival on September 19. It is in Spanish and runs about 107 minutes long.

The film stars Daniel Hendler, who also co-wrote and directed it. Along with Hendler, it also stars Marilú Marini, Humberto Tortonese, Julieta Zylberberg, Paula Grinszpan, and Carla Peterson. Also, La Unión de los Ríos produced the film for Netflix.
27 Nights is Loosely Based on a True Story
While fictionalized for dramatic effect, 27 Nights draws inspiration from real-life events in Argentina. It is adapted from the 2021 biographical-fiction novel Veintisiete noches by Natalia Zito.
The story mirrors the case of Natalia Kohen, an elderly artist wrongly declared incompetent and institutionalized by her daughters, only to later be proven mentally fit and released.
Apparently, in 2005, the 86-year-old writer had to spend 27 nights in a psychiatric facility as a result of the lawsuit filed by her daughters, Nora and Claudia. She was alleged to have frontotemporal dementia and was accused by her daughters that she was squandering the family inheritance left by her late husband (via Global Comment).
The film uses this case as its backstory, while many details and character backstories are fictionalized or dramatized to flesh out the narrative. Despite the dramatization, the film remains grounded in reality, feeling both haunting and believable.
