The Crimson Kimono quest in Ghost of Yotei is a Mythical Tale from Ugetsu, the storyteller, who also helps us gain Jin Sakai’s Storm Blade. Completing the said quest rewards Atsu with a Crimson Kimono armor that has certain traits. This quest begins after speaking to Ugetsu in Sakuru Woods, under the Mother Daughter Tree.

While there is no big challenge in completing the Crimson Kimono in Ghost of Yotei, it’s still better to have a helping hand. That said, here’s a guide explaining how to complete this quest and acquire the armor for our protagonist.

Ghost of Yotei: The Crimson Kimono Quest Guide

After talking to Ugetsu in Sakuru Woods, plenty of snowbugs, originally known as the Red Yuki Mushi, appear before the protagonist. The Yuki Mushi are friendly insects that will aid you in this quest and obtain the armor. The quest is simple – interact with the snow sculptures of Mother and Daughter while following the Yuki Mushi.

Upon examining each snow sculpture, Red Yuki Mushi will appear and take you to the next location. When you follow them for the first time, you will reach a small campsite where the daughter (from Ugetsu’s story) had stayed briefly. Here, you shall find a scroll that reveals that the daughter moved to the Hakodake Mountains.

The next location where we must go to progress in the Crimson Kimono quest is the eastern Hakodake Mountains in Ghost of Yotei. To be specific, this mountain is located to the north of your current location in Sakuru Woods. Once you are in the eastern Hakodake Mountains, look for a Mother Daughter Tree. Under this tree, you will find another snow sculpture that can be examined so that the Red Yuki Mushi appear again.

This time, while following the Yuki Mushi, you will be attacked by some Shinobi warriors. You will have to defeat them and then follow the Yuki Mushi that will lead you to a house in Hakodake Mountains. In this house, you will find a scroll that tells us about the whereabouts of the next snow sculpture. It is located on the mountain to the north of the Teshio River, specifically in the middle of Teshio Ridge.

The said location is located just southwest of your current location in the Hakodake Mountains. After reaching the location, you will find another Mother Daughter tree and a snow sculpture underneath it. Examining the sculpture will make the Red Yuki Mushi appear again, ready to take you to a location called the Old Home – the house where the daughter from Ugetsu’s story used to live.

Follow the snowbugs until you reach the Old Home. Inside the house in this location, you will find another scroll that says that the daughter was building another sculpture in the frozen stream outside. However, once you find the sculpture, it appears to be incomplete. You can interact with it to build and complete the sculpture, after which the Red Yuki Mushi will come back.

Upon following the Yuki Mushi this time, you will end up reaching the mother’s grave. Next to it will be a pile of rocks, under which you will find a chest containing the Crimson Kimono in Ghost of Yotei. That will complete the quest and unlock the new armor for you.

Crimson Kimono Might Be the Best Stealth Armor in Ghost of Yotei

One of the best things about the Crimson Kimono armor is that it supports a stealth build for Atsu. Wearing the Crimson Kimono reduces the detection, hence making it difficult for the enemies to find her. That said, you can go out on a killing spree without getting detected once, even in broad daylight.

If you ask us, Kusarigama is a decent choice to pair with the Crimson Kimono in Ghost of Yotei. This chained weapon allows you to pull enemies in your direction and assassinate them with ease. While hiding in the grass, the Crimson Kimono will reduce your detection, and Kusarigama will make you a threat hidden in plain sight.

The Crimson Kimono in Ghost of Yotei can easily be one of your go-to armors for a crowded area. Let us know if you agree with us in the comments below.
