Helldivers 2′s Bile Titan holes are exactly what they sound like: oversized bug spawn points that literally vomit forth the galaxy’s most unpleasant houseguests instead of the usual smaller Terminid riffraff.
These nightmare portals start showing up in Heavy and Mega variants during Extreme difficulty missions, becoming increasingly common as you venture into the game’s higher difficulties.
The real headache, though, begins when you encounter one of these underground in the new Hive Worlds. With In to the Unjust’
The Only Three Weapons That Can Close Bile Titan Holes in Caves

Closing a Bile Titan hole requires something that can deliver a Demolition Force of 40 or more. As of writing (though Arrowhead could change this soon), these structures don’t have a health pool that your squad can whittle down with regular explosive weaponry.
Currently, only three weapons—that Helldivers can carry on their person—pack enough punch to destroy these underground nightmares:
Weapon | Unlock Requirement | Details |
---|---|---|
FAF-14 Spear | Patriotic Administration Center (Level 20) | Initial missile hit delivers the required Demolition Force of 40. Just need breathing space to lock on to the thing. |
GP-20 Ultimatum | Servants of Freedom Warbond (Page 2) | Only secondary weapon capable of the job with a Demo Force 40. |
B-100 Portable Hellbomb | Servants of Freedom Warbond (Page 3) | A Demo Force of 60 means overkill—and that’s the point. |
Of course, the last two options require parting with 1,000 Super Credits that you can farm through gameplay or pay for via your wallet, plus enough Medals to unlock them within the Warbond progression. While the devs will likely adjust how Bile Titan holes work to make them more vulnerable to other explosives, this is the current reality for cave combat.
Advanced Tactics That Turn Bugs Against Their Own Infrastructure

Sometimes the most effective strategy involves convincing the bugs to destroy their own real estate. This is the equivalent of grabbing your friend’s hand and making them slap themselves, except with significantly higher stakes and more acid spit.
Here are the battlefield-tested methods that separate veteran Helldivers from crater decorations:
- Execute Bile Titans as they emerge: A well-placed Quasar Cannon or Recoilless Rifle shot to the head can one-shot a Bile Titan as it spawns. The carcass crashes back into the hole, destroying it in the process. Timing is everything: too early and you miss, too late and you’ll have to try something else.
- Bait Bile Titan stomps: Position yourself so the target Titan’s front legs are near the bug hole, then duck directly underneath the beast. The frantic stomping that follows can destroy the hole if positioned correctly. Needless to mention, this requires circus-level timing and nerves of steel.
- Charger bullfighting: Lure a Charger into charging directly at the Bile Titan hole, then dive out of the way at the last second. The charging Charger will crash into the hole and destroy it. Simple physics, maximum satisfaction.
These advanced strategies make sense given the difficulty levels where you encounter Bile Titan holes inside caves. Adaptation and creative problem-solving aren’t just encouraged anymore; they’re mandatory for survival in Helldivers 2 now. Darwin would be proud.
