Toru Hagakure is better known as Stealth Hero: Invisible Girl in the My Hero Academia series. She’s a student in Class 1-A at U.A. High School, training alongside Izuku Midoriya to become a Hero. During her first appearance in Episode 5, she’s 15 years old, turning 16 later in the series. According to her character profile given in the original manga’s Volume 2, Hagakure’s birthday is June 16.
Hagakure stands out amongst the students of Class 1-A due to her unique Quirk. She’s often an underrated character in My Hero Academia, but incredibly powerful. When she does get a moment to shine, however, she steals it, and Kohei Horikoshi makes sure we don’t forget her. So, what can the Stealth Hero do, and how strong is she?
Hagakure’s Quirk and Fighting Style Make Her the Stealthiest Student
As suggested by her Hero title, Hagakure’s Quirk is Invisibility, and it makes her body completely invisible. This allows her to be far more stealthy than her peers in Class 1-A, perfect for espionage. The downside to her Quirk is that, to be completely invisible, she needs to be naked. It leads to some uncomfortable and unnecessary fan service scenes.
Hagakure’s Invisibility makes her rely more on surprise attacks and close combat. This leaves her vulnerable and unable to defend herself, especially since she can’t carry equipment either if she wants to be completely invisible. However, we’ve seen her carry out many successful ambushes, as her Quirk also grants her some degree of light manipulation.
Her Ultimate Moves involve pairing her Invisibility with light manipulation. Although it isn’t properly explained in My Hero Academia, Hagakure becomes a force of nature when she uses it against her opponents. With Warp Refraction, she refracts light with her body, using it like a lens, and blinds her targets.
For her second Ultimate Move, Warp Refraction: Navel Laser, it’s a combined move with Yuga Aoyama. Hagakure refracts his Navel Laser, damaging anything in the vicinity. We saw her use it against Kunieda in Episode 1 of the final season. Her Quirk began to glitch, however, finally leading her to make a special suit.

Overall, Hagakure is an underused character who we wish were more involved in the pre-time skip storyline. She’s a kind and powerful Hero who is far more useful and has a higher sense of camaraderie.
Does Hagakure Survive the Final War Arc in My Hero Academia?
Fans of Invisible Girl can rejoice as she survives the Final War Arc. Hagakure is a major player, from freeing all the heroes from Kunieda’s plants to assisting Izuku in defeating All For One. She also shows one of the greatest acts of bravery against the villain.
When All For One is about to blast a giant laser beam at Izuku, Hagakure jumps in front of it, refracting the powerful attack. It makes her Quirk glitch out, but her heroic act gave Izuku an opening against the villains. He eventually defeats him and Tomura. After the war, she recovers and goes back to U.A. High School.
Eight years after graduation, Hagakure is revealed to have become a Pro Hero and is currently the No. 39 Hero, alongside her former Class 1-A peers. We don’t get enough information about her Pro Hero life, but let’s hope she’s not naked for that.
