By Andrew Jones 10/16/2025

Gen V Season 2 is nearing its finale, and showrunner Erik Kripke just revealed the timeline of Gen V Season 2 and The Boys. In an interview with TheWrap, showrunner Erik Kripke revealed that The Boys Season 5 will pick up “about six months after Gen V Season 2 ends.”

At the end of The Boys Season 4, Homelander’s (Antony Starr) reign reached a new terrifying level of dominance. In Gen V Season 2, Marie (Jaz Sinclair) gains better control of her power with the help of Cipher. She can be more powerful than Homelander.

However, Gen V Season 2 Episode 7 gave a shocking discovery as Dr. Thomas Godolkin (Ethan Slater) is revealed to be masquerading as Cipher (Hamish Linklater). He used Marie to restore his original form. It’s setting up a dangerous path for the Gen V Season 2 finale and The Boys Season 5 future events.

Eric Kripke Says They’re Planning for Gen V
Season 3

As Prime Video’s Gen V fans hold their breath for the Season 2 finale, Kripke revealed that there’s already a roadmap for Gen V Season 3. However, the future of the spinoff depends on how the second season performs in terms of viewership. In the same interview, Kripke said,

We have a plan for Gen V Season 3, and we’re psyched about it, but we need enough viewers to watch Season 2 to justify Season 3. Now’s the time that they’re paying attention to the numbers. So don’t watch even a year from now. Turn on Prime [Video] and watch it now. If enough people watch, then we’ll get a Season 3.

This confirmation hints at a lot of untold stories still to come in the Gen V world. With significant twists unfolding in Season 2, like the revelation of Dr. Thomas Godolkin’s true identity, fans can expect even more intricate character developments and shocking revelations.

Eric Kripke Revealed the Future of The Boys Universe

Beyond Gen V, Kripke also shared exciting news about the future of The Boys universe. Kripke offered updates on new spinoff projects in the works.

He confirmed that The Boys: Mexico is in the development phase. A pilot script is already underway. This spinoff will focus on Supes in Mexico. Kripke also addressed the future of Vought Rising, a prequel series centered on the early days of Vought International. He noted that plans for a second season depend on the success of the first.

Kripke has confirmed that, unfortunately, there are no plans for a second season of Diabolical, the animated spinoff. The viewer ratings were not sufficient to justify a Season 2. Although showrunner Simon Racioppa is interested in continuing the series, there is currently no hope for a second season.

With Gen V Season 2 poised to bridge the gap between The Boys Seasons 4 and 5, Kripke’s comments lead to a lot of interest for the final episode. Gen V Season 2 final episode will premiere on October 22, 2025.

Gen V Season 2 is available to stream on Prime Video. Episode 8, the finale, will arrive in October 2025 on Prime Video (US).
