Robert Downey Jr., a.k.a. RDJ’s Doctor Doom suit, has reportedly been making the rounds after a tease at a recent Disney expo in China, and hints at a chilling theory. The actor’s official look has been kept under wraps since its announcement last year, and with the movie still more than a year away, Marvel Studios is unlikely to release it anytime soon.
The suit also seems to have a lot of insignia on it, including symbols of Captain Marvel, Thor, and the Ten Rings featured in Shang-Chi. This might indicate that Doom has killed the Avengers and more and has taken their powers. A light show at the expo featuring Doom also reportedly hints at what his plans in Doomsday and Secret Wars could be.
RDJ’s Alleged Suit Leads the Path to God Emperor Doom in Secret Wars

RDJ’s role as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday comes at a time when the multiverse is collapsing in the Earth-616 universe. According to various reports, the movie will explore the concepts of incursions, and one of the important comic book references for the movie would be Jonathan Hickman’s Time Runs Out storyline, which is a precursor to Secret Wars.
The alleged new suit of Doctor Doom, as mentioned before, saw many Avengers insignia attached to it, indicating that Doom will be killing these Avengers in the upcoming movie. Heroes like Thor, Captain Marvel, and Ten Rings have been hinted at to be the symbols on his suit, and the light show at the Disney expo hinted at him controlling lightning.

All of these hints, including his obsession with Franklin Richards, point to RDJ’s Doctor Doom getting ready to be God Emperor Doom and assembling Battleworld. According to the comics, the multiverse collapses, and Doom, with the help of the Beyonder’s powers, collects different parts of them and creates Battleworld, and reigns over it.
While the Beyonders might not be how Doctor Doom creates Battleworld, the powers of the Avengers he has theorized to kill may be how he does in Avengers: Doomsday. We already theorized that Doctor Strange would play a part similar to Molecule Man’s in the Secret Wars comics, and the ‘dead’ Avengers’ purpose could be this.
The Russos Are Following the Infinity War Template for Avengers: Doomsday

Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars are not just the return of RDJ in the MCU but also the Russo Brothers’ after they helmed both Infinity War and Endgame. After the blockbuster success of both movies, which earned more than $2 billion individually, the Russos might be looking at recreating similar commercial success by following the same blueprint.
The theory about Doctor Doom killing the Avengers in Doomsday seems awfully similar to how Thanos defeats the heroes in Infinity War, adding a real threat to the superheroes and gods we have seen in the MCU. Thanos was also treated as the protagonist of the story, though he was the villain of both stories.
With Doomsday, the Russos seem to be doing it again. Alex Perez gave a scoop that Doctor Doom believes him to be the hero of the story as he tries to stop the multiverse from collapsing because of the incursions, which is something even Thanos believed by wielding the Infinity Gauntlet and killing half of the population.
Will the Russos repeat the success of Infinity War by following the same template? It really depends on how they treat it. The reason why the movie worked so well is that none of the fans believed that the MCU was capable of such a sad and scary ending. The Blip is genuinely one of the most harrowing moments in cinema.
However, every fan is waiting for Doom to come in, and with RDJ playing him, the fans might just root for him to win, and the threat may not be as effective. What do you think about the Russos’ plan? Comment below.
Avengers: Doomsday is slated to release on December 18, 2026.
